Episode Context

Arriving at episode 9 of 19, this is the deep midpoint of Season 4, past the setup, before any resolution. Following Episode 8's identity-focused title 'Who Are You?', 'Empty Shell' suggests a continuation of themes around self, loss, and dissolution within the Watchtower arc. It lays critical emotional groundwork for the second half of the season, likely marking a turning point that will define where Subaru and his companions stand heading into the back stretch.
