Episode Context

Sitting at roughly the one-third mark of XY's 93-episode run, this episode directly continues the Mega Evolution mini-arc introduced when Ash's group met Korrina and her Lucario, transitioning from learning about Mega Evolution to actively pursuing the means to achieve it. It serves as a critical stepping stone, the challenges here will shape Korrina and Lucario's readiness for Mega Evolution in upcoming episodes, making it essential rather than skippable. This stretch of the season builds foundational lore around Mega Evolution that pays off significantly later in the Kalos journey.
