Episode Context

Coming off the supernatural encounter with Gengar in 'A Chilling Curse!', episode 17 deliberately downshifts to deepen the Goh-Scorbunny dynamic before the series pivots hard into Ash's competitive arc. It builds essential emotional groundwork for Goh's parallel journey as a trainer, setting the stage for 'Destination: Coronation!' where Ash enters the World Coronation Series and both protagonists begin pursuing distinct but complementary goals.
