I was so sure Fuecoco was going to evolve during the big finish so I am a little annoyed he is still in his base form

Giving Roy a proper reason to sing through that flashback with his sailor parents made the connection with Fuecoco during the battle feel much deeper

Ryme losing that rematch was so satisfying, and that rhythmic strategy Roy used to mess with Toxtricity was such a clever way to use their singing

I thought it was great getting to see Roy's parents in those flashbacks, because it explains where his love for music actually comes from and it is so different from other protagonists. The battle with Ryme had a great energy to it, and even if I wanted Fuecoco to evolve today the new song strategy worked well for his second Terastal Training stamp

That training montage felt way too fast and they should have shown Roy actually coming up with the new lyrics instead of skipping it all

It was a nice change of pace to see Roy has both his parents around even if they are just off sailing the world right now

Watching Liko and Dot try to stall for time during that concert was hilarious because they looked so uncomfortable on stage with their pokemon

The singing battle against Ryme was fun, but I wish we saw Roy actually working on the new song instead of it just appearing out of nowhere

Ryme is such a cool gym leader and that rematch felt way better than the first time because the crowd actually got into the music

I really liked seeing Roy with his parents in those flashbacks and it makes so much sense why he is always singing with Fuecoco on the ship

Hearing about Roy's parents being sailors and why he is always singing made me so happy and that bond with Fuecoco during the battle felt so real and special

The sea shanty style of the new song fits Roy's family history perfectly, and it makes so much sense that he used music to cope with being away from his parents

schtzstaffel_scythe_481
The focus on Fuecoco gaining speed through Nemona's training actually paid off during the Terastal moment and it was cool to see Roy actually use some strategy instead of just shouting

I was definitely one of the people who thought Fuecoco was going to evolve today so seeing him stay small is a bit of a letdown after all that training on the mountain

xaldin_458
Watching the crowd start singing along with Roy and Fuecoco was such a great way to show how music connects everyone and it made the rematch feel special even if the fight was short
brassius's avatar

The way Ryme acknowledges Roy once he stops trying to force the battle and just starts singing from the heart made the win feel way more earned than if he just used a new move

It felt like such a huge bait to have Roy and Fuecoco get this big emotional moment and win the rematch but still not get the evolution everyone was waiting for after all those teasers

I honestly thought Roy's parents were gone for good, so seeing them as sailors was a huge relief for me and it made his new song feel so much more personal. I did feel a bit cheated that the evolution didn't happen because it felt like the perfect time, but the sea shanty style they went for was a cool touch

You can really feel how much faster Fuecoco got after that mountain training with Nemona and seeing him actually land hits on Ryme this time was so rewarding after that brutal loss last week

Finding out about Roy's parents in those flashbacks was sweet and knowing they were sailors explains so much to me about his energy and why that song matters while he waits for them

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode directly follows Roy's challenging encounter with Gym Leader Ryme in Episode 61, turning his setback into a focused character study about bouncing back stronger. It represents Pokémon Horizons' ongoing pattern of alternating spotlight episodes between its leads, giving Roy meaningful growth before the narrative shifts to Liko's own trials against Gym Leader Grusha in Episode 63. Within the broader season, it reinforces the series' core thesis that trainer-Pokémon bonds deepen through adversity, not just victory.
