I cannot believe she tried to use a Grass Tera type against an Altaria because that was such a huge mistake and Grusha punished her for it instantly

It was actually terrifying how Grusha told a kid that her effort does not matter after she worked that hard was so brutal

Grusha is definitely the most intense gym leader we have seen so far, and it feels so different from how Ryme treated Roy. Even though Liko lost the fight, it felt like she deserved a pass for how she handled that Cetitan earlier. Seeing his old snowboarding photos made his current attitude make more sense even if it was hard to watch

That Cetoddle sledding was the cutest thing ever and seeing Roy have that much fun before the battle started was a nice break

Liko stuffing those leaves into the mouth of Cetitan was such a smart move and it shows she is finally getting creative with her tactics

it is crazy that dot passed while losing her fight but grusha is an entirely different kind of challenge and he really meant it when he said results are everything for him
sailor_saturn_398's avatar
sailor_saturn_398
It felt so different seeing a protagonist actually fail their test because of a loss, instead of getting a pass for effort like Dot did. Grusha is extremely harsh, but his focus on results over everything else makes sense once you see how his snowboarding career ended. It really forced Liko to face the reality of what it means to be a trainer
darmani's avatar

This man is such a jerk for failing Liko and that no do-over rule is way too harsh for a training test

Grusha is a total ice king, and his attitude during the battle was incredibly intimidating. He treats the gym challenge like a job and it showed in how he dismantled Likos entire strategy without blinking

I actually cant believe Liko failed the whole test just because she lost the battle. Grusha is way more intense than the other gym leaders the show has seen and it felt so bad seeing her get shut down like that
rangiku_rider's avatar

Floragato getting stuffed right into the mouth of that Cetitan was such a wild move and it shows how much Liko is starting to think outside the box
joseph_joestar's avatar

I felt so bad for Liko when her tera form broke and she realized it was over because she worked so hard but Grusha's backstory about his injury explains why he is so cold

My mind was blown when Grusha terastallized his Altaria into an ice type to counter Floragato. I thought she had a chance but he just completely outplayed her at the very last second
miyuki_shirogane's avatar
miyuki_shirogane
The animation during the Terastallization scenes was super clean and the way the ice moves looked felt very high stakes. Liko gave it her all but Grusha is just on another level compared to the others

Seeing the kids go sledding with the Cetoddle was adorable even if it took a while to get to the gym match because it showed how much they love their pokemon

there was such a heavy silence after liko lost, and you could really feel her disappointment when she had to accept that there were no do-overs in this test

I really felt for Floragato trying to use its speed against that Cetitan only to get shut down. It was a brutal fight and seeing my favorite cat lose like that hurt more than I expected
larry's avatar

The animation when Magical Leaf and Ice Beam clashed was so pretty and it made the whole battle feel way more intense than I expected
near_nemesis_114's avatar
near_nemesis_114
Liko actually failing the test was such a shock because you usually expect the main character to just pass by trying their best but Grusha just did not care about her effort at all
mayuri_madness_464's avatar
mayuri_madness_464
I honestly didn't think they would have the guts to make Liko fail, especially since the previous tests were a bit more forgiving with the protagonists, and seeing her eyes well up when Grusha gave his final verdict was crushing but it makes sense for him since he lost his career to an injury and doesn't believe in second chances

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly after Episode 62's focus on Roy and Fuecoco's development, this episode pivots the narrative lens squarely onto Liko, giving each protagonist their own moment to shine in close succession. The Glaseado Gym challenge serves as a concrete benchmark for Liko's trainer progression and sets the foundation for the next stretch of episodes, which continue to explore her evolving confidence and capability.
