QUICK TAKES

I did not expect the explorers to just snatch the cat like that and seeing Liko stand her ground against Amethio was a huge moment

Whoa, Captain Pikachu went all out, seriously! My jaw totally dropped seeing him fight for real, and those Double Team illusions were so fluid it was like he was multiplying right before my eyes.

Friede diving on Charizard to catch her midair was such a cool entrance and the airship is way bigger than it looked in the previews

Cap Pikachu dodging those Psycho Cuts was so sick and the animation really stepped up for that fight

I am actually so sad that Sprigatito got taken away because Liko was just starting to get close with it and now they are separated

When that little turtle popped out of the pendant and actually *protected* Liko, my jaw dropped! I thought it was just a cute trinket, but now I'm convinced it's gotta be some kind of brand new legendary Pokémon, and I'm super hyped to find out its secret.

When Captain Pikachu pulled out Double Team against Ceruledge, I was genuinely impressed by how Friede thinks on his feet in those intense moments. Like, he really knows how to play to his Pokémon's strengths and it makes me trust him more as a leader.

Watching those illusions from Double Team confuse Ceruledge was such a cool way to show how fast Captain Pikachu is compared to a normal one
monk_mijah_301's avatar
monk_mijah_301
The way the airship Brave Olivine looks coming out of the clouds is like something out of a fantasy movie and it makes the world feel so much larger than just walking between towns
ryuk_reaper_113's avatar
ryuk_reaper_113
Captain Pikachu wearing a hat and punching ghosts is something you never knew you needed until now and that battle on the deck with Ceruledge was so fast and flashy under the lightning
hitotsume_kozo_31's avatar
hitotsume_kozo_31
Amethio is actually a terrifying villain for a pokemon show, because he does not hesitate to chase a kid into a literal hurricane and his Ceruledge looks so intimidating with those purple flame swords
skull_kid's avatar

My stomach dropped when Sprigatito got snatched, especially after that massive glowing Leafage attack and it was such a gut punch to see Liko finally standing up for herself only to lose her best friend
nianzol_nihility's avatar
nianzol_nihility
The reveal of the crystalline turtle inside the shield really got me thinking about the connection to the Paldea region and the pendant and it was so intense when Liko tried to give herself up to save the ship but then Sprigatito went berserk with that glowing leaf move and I was yelling at the screen when Corviknight grabbed the cat

Woah, that little turtle peeking out of the pendant totally caught me off guard! I swear it looked like something from Area Zero, and its quick flash then disappearance just makes me wonder what even *is* that thing and why it's so important.

I feel so bad for Liko watching her partner get carried away by Corviknight at the very end and she was trying so hard to be brave and then everything just went wrong
hoho_hurricane's avatar

The moment that glowing green barrier shielded Liko from the fall was such a beautiful sequence, and it really sets a different tone for this series compared to what came before
orihime_omnipotent's avatar
orihime_omnipotent
The massive airship emerging from the clouds really changed the scale of the show for me because it looks like such a cool home base and it makes the adventure feel so much bigger than just walking between towns and I am just really curious to see how Liko is going to get her cat back from those guys now
reshiram_310's avatar

Friede has a giant dragon right there on the ship and somehow it just stays in the engine room while Liko is getting cornered by the bad guys because keeping Charizard as a heater is questionable
krillin_ki_59's avatar
krillin_ki_59
The way Amethio just ignores the storm and keeps chasing them shows he is a much bigger threat than the older villains and he feels way more dangerous than Team Rocket ever did

Seeing that tiny crystalline turtle pop out of the pendant for a second was such a cool mystery and you can tell there is so much more to this heirloom than Liko even knows yet

EPISODE CONTEXT

Directly continuing the premiere's cliffhanger, this episode completes the two-part opening act by expanding Liko's world beyond her school setting and formally introducing the Rising Volt Tacklers as her new orbit. It transforms the pendant from a mysterious accessory into the show's driving narrative engine while establishing Amethio as a recurring threat. Everything here serves as the launchpad for Liko's larger journey, bridging her ordinary life with the adventure-driven structure the rest of the season will follow.
