I couldn't stop smiling when Roy taught Fuecoco a new move while they were getting pushed back and that Stomping Tantrum looked so strong on screen

Nemona's battle hunger really got me, she's even wilder than I remembered from the games! And seriously, that Pawmo is just too adorable, it almost makes me forget how intense she is.

I totally forgot how much I hated that bitter oil from Dolliv in the game, and Roy thinking Sudowoodo was a grass type is so relatable

Okay, that Black Rayquaza sculpture totally freaked me out, and I immediately got why Brassius was so weird after seeing the actual thing in the forest. I can only imagine how truly terrifying and awe-inspiring that would be to witness firsthand.

Nemona is exactly like she was in the game and I am so happy they kept her battle obsessed personality

You can tell the animation team had fun with the Sudowoodo fight and that Grass Tera transformation looked incredible even if it meant Roy took a loss

When that Grass Tera Sudowoodo appeared, I literally gasped, it looked so cool animated! I really didn't expect it to totally bamboozle Roy like that, which made its appearance feel even more clever to me.

The Arboliva lead at the end felt like a huge win for me because Roy and Liko finally have a real direction
connie_comrade's avatar

Sudowoodo using Substitute to mess with Roy was such a classic gym leader move and it forced Roy to actually pay attention to Fuecoco's rhythm

Friede usually seems so cool and unflappable, so the way that creepy Rayquaza sculpture clearly got to him really caught me off guard; I guess his actual encounter with the legendary must've been way more intense than I even imagined.

The way Brassius described Rayquaza as a masterpiece of nature was poetic, and it really sold the scale of the mystery they are chasing

Roy and Fuecoco finding their rhythm with Stomping Tantrum was such a highlight especially with how frustrated they were getting during that battle

Fuecoco learning Stomping Tantrum made me jump because Roy really needed a way to beat those decoys

Nemona is exactly like the games and her energy when she saw Roy and Liko made the whole Artazon intro perfect and she really just lives for the battle grind

Nemona's energy was exactly like the games and I think they nailed her personality plus that Sudowoodo Terastallizing was such a cool way to show the mechanic

Nemona was great but she barely did anything and I wish we saw her battle more instead of just seeing the end of that match with the Sunflora kid

Walking into Artazon felt like stepping right into the game, and seeing Nemona jump into a battle immediately was such a perfect introduction for her. I think the fight against Brassius really showed off how much Roy still has to learn about typing and Terastallization, and my reaction to that Arboliva teaser at the end was just pure curiosity

Watching the kids run around Artazon to find all those Sunflora was adorable and it captured the vibe of Paldea better than any other episode so far

Brassius being a fan of Liko's dad was a neat touch and it made his sudden shift from being super moody to excited feel very natural for an eccentric artist

Artazon looked beautiful in this episode, and seeing all those Sunflora running around for the gym challenge was a nice touch for the fans of the games.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly off Episode 9's arrival in Paldea and the introduction of the black Rayquaza mystery, this episode shifts focus to grounding Liko and Roy in Paldea's culture by connecting them with region-specific characters like Nemona and Brassius. It serves as a world-building bridge that deepens the duo's Paldean experience before the journey moves into Arboliva's Forest in Episode 11. The relationships and themes established here — mentorship, artistic pursuit, personal growth — feed into the larger narrative of Liko and Roy discovering what drives them as Trainers.
