The mention of Brassius and the black Rayquaza means things are about to get serious again after that lead from Liko's dad

dot leaving that drawing under the door was great and her being unmasked in the new ending song suggests she might finally join the crew

mesagoza looks absolutely massive and seeing the academy towering over the city really made the scale of paldea feel real

My brain is stuck on where Liko's mom is since she was too busy to even see her daughter come home after all that danger

sprigatito jumping in to save liko from that aggressive lechonk was the best because it proved their bond is way stronger than a little bit of jealousy

When Fidough basically swallowed Fuecoco and fermented him into a giant bread ball, my jaw honestly dropped! I mean, what a ridiculously hilarious way to introduce those new Paldean abilities; I was just laughing my head off.

alex revealing that painting of the pokemon napping on dough was such a sweet touch and it showed his quiet support for liko

I thought it was so cute how Sprigatito got all grumpy because Liko was petting that Fidough and it really shows how much that cat actually cares about her

liko standing on the deck with that confident face at the end made it feel like her adventure is finally starting for real

The slower pace really worked for this homecoming, especially with Dot doing her Nidothing videos while the others explored the shops.

the pacing is definitely slower than the old series but at least we finally have a solid lead on rayquaza with this brassius guy in artazon

I was really worried Liko might actually stay behind because her dad was so stressed about her being away, but seeing her find her own voice and tell him she needs to keep traveling was such a huge step. It felt like she finally stopped just following everyone else and made a choice for herself and her future instead of doing what others expected.

I felt so bad for Sprigatito when it got jealous of that Fidough and its little cold shoulder act was actually kind of heartbreaking until Liko finally hugged it

Watching that Lechonk charge at Liko for her cake was actually kind of scary but then Sprigatito jumped in to save her and they finally made up

Fuecoco getting fermented by the Fidough and turning into a round ball of dough was the funniest thing in the whole episode

I was worried Liko might actually stay behind after hearing how much her dad missed her, but that speech she gave about her own path was powerful. Using her grandmother's words to explain why the first step is the scariest felt like a huge turning point for her character. She has truly found her own role on the ship.

Dot sliding that drawing under Liko's door made me grin so much; it's such a sweet, subtle way for her to show she's really paying attention, even when she's all hidden away. I felt like it proved she cares way more than she lets on, which is just so her.

it was refreshing to see a pokemon parent actually voice their worries instead of just waving their kid off to travel the world alone and his blessing felt earned
kenpachi_berserker's avatar

Liko having a famous artist for a dad explains a lot about her personality and that painting of the Pokemon on the dough was such a nice ending gift

The view of the Naranja Academy towering over the city made the scale of the world feel so much bigger and it was cool seeing people actually riding Cyclizar around

EPISODE CONTEXT

Directly following Episode 8's arrival in the Paldea region, this episode serves as the emotional grounding before the next wave of encounters. Liko's self-reflection here is pivotal setup — the choices she wrestles with inform the direction of subsequent episodes, particularly Episode 10's introduction of Nemona and Brassius, which pivots back toward new challenges and fresh faces.
