That was goosebump-inducing! I could still feel the goosebumps while I'm typing this review. The cliffhanger for this episode literally relied on a cliff; you can't get any better than that! 10/10

What makes this work is the shift in how characters act. Aqua stops reacting and starts controlling the board, which makes everything feel colder. Kana’s direction adds contrast. It’s slow, but intentionally so.

The tension really peaks when Ruby confronts Aqua, and her voice actor absolutely delivers. Things ease up a bit during Kana’s conversation with Aqua. If Ruby is the manipulator, Aqua feels like the mastermind. Hikaru Kamiki remains mysterious yet truly terrifying.

Nothing much is going on; I'm glad he's back being friends with her. I didn't really like the sister in this episode, but I understand her reasoning. The sudden CLIFF in the end was too quick, didn't even get a proper intro for him.

I did not expect the amounts of plot twists in this single episode. From Dark Ai all the way to how the new girl got killed off. It feels like they were setting the stage for a finale of sorts.

Shocking episode😱 Every single storyline kept me from blinking even once. Animation still goat for me, every color gradation which spoils my eyes. Then finally, the TWIST made me craving for more episode!! Cant wait to see more dark Aqua.

The stars in their eyes don't feel cringey at all whenever they're locked in, as it's part of their character, and it's literally one of the anime's distinctive art design. The reveal at the last part was huge twist! It does a good job building anticipation for the next episode.

Amazing portrayal of emotions in this episode. On top of the voice acting, the facial expressions are really well-made. The last scenes started off slow but the twist picked it up again instantly. Great cliffhanger

The plot is further thickens and the tension is picking up as it should. The art design is so memorable with how expressive it is in showing the twins' emotions, even Ai's too.

ruby calling aqua a liar and saying he isnt family anymore really stung because she finally realized how far he will go for his revenge

It is hard to process that ending because seeing Yura like that was actually terrifying and it feels like the stakes just shifted. Aqua is basically playing god with everyone around him for this movie and Gotanda seems like the only one who really gets what is happening. The transition from the sweet Ai flashbacks to that bloody scene on the rocks was brutal

Ruby having those crazy dilated eyes when she told Aqua she does not see him as family was a lot and her face looked so distorted by the end of it

Seriously, my jaw dropped when Aqua just went off on Ruby like that, especially after what he said about Ai. I mean, prioritizing Kana's feelings over his own sister and basically disrespecting his mom's memory? It makes me question everything about his character arc and if he's even trying to get revenge for her anymore.

Seeing the anime cut the broken plate scene and that specific line from Ruby felt a bit weird and it changed the feeling of their fight a lot

Those flashbacks of Ai talking to Gotanda about capturing her true self were so beautiful and it makes the movie project feel more like a promise than just a revenge tool

You can see how much Miyako cares during the fallout, even if the anime changed some of the dialogue from the source material

Aqua going full cold mode with this movie plan is wild and you can tell he is ready to burn every bridge he has just to get to his father and the way he just stood there while Ruby disowned him was intense and it really sets the stage for how dark this final act is going to get

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned at the season's critical inflection point following the devastating events of 'Breakdown,' Episode 8 formally transitions Season 3 from its earlier exploration of entertainment industry life back into Aqua's core revenge narrative. It serves as the definitive foundation-laying installment, crystallizing Aqua's strategy and setting the stage for the movie production, shifting alliances, and escalating tensions that will drive the final three episodes toward their conclusion.
