I'm sure this is based on Japanese folklore about Kagura and the moon, it would explain the alien bunnies. An interesting spin even going so far as to throw in spacefaring technology.

I can tell Seikichi loves what he's doing, and he's passionate about it. It's funny that Shunpei always misunderstood them. Watching Shunpei and Genzo being in sync is fun to watch. Sora's character added mystery to the story. Is she connected? The ending is emotional.

The visual gags are top-notch, especially surrounding the panic among the row-house residents as they try to save Seikichi from his airborne catastrophe.
