We get some spotlight on the supporting cast. The pacing slows down slightly for some bonding, but the underlying tension of the prophecy ticking down is always noticeable.

A nice episode focused on Maya and Ami's friendship. It does a good job of showing their bond, but maybe it's more about Ami's father. At the same time, it also does a solid job of setting the tone for the next episode and hinting that the rocky relationship between Maya and Ami. Overall, a fun and effective setup episode.
