Negative Positive Angler

Synopsis
Tsunehiro Sasaki's life collapses on every front all at once. Failed his university entrance exams, lost everything day-trading, buried in debt, and then, because the universe apparently wasn't done, he gets diagnosed with a terminal illness. Two years to live, tops. He's at rock bottom when a group of amateur fishermen, including a high schooler named Hana Ayukawa, pull him out of the ocean after he nearly drowns fleeing from creditors. What follows is a 12-episode original TV series about a guy who has every reason to give up slowly finding reasons not to, one fishing trip at a time. NegaPosi Angler is a quiet show. It's not trying to rush anywhere. The coastal scenery is gorgeous, the fishing sequences feel genuinely researched, and the soundtrack knows exactly when to pull back and when to hit. But what makes it work is Tsunehiro himself, watching someone with a countdown clock on his life start caring about small things again, like landing a catch or showing up for people who showed up for him. If you liked the rural healing vibe of Barakamon, or the way March Comes in Like a Lion handles depression without sugarcoating it, this is in that lane. It's also got some of Shirobako's knack for making you invested in adults figuring out their lives. Studio Nut animated it, and they clearly put care into the water and lighting. It's a gentle watch that earns its emotional moments honestly.

Really, fishing solves almost every problem. What a happy and and peaceful way to end the series. Moovie quality anime with really precise attention to detail.
The misunderstanding just keep on piling, with the added goofy animation it just enhances the comedy. Fishing really does solve almost every problem.
The attention to detail is still superb as ever, and each characters uniqueness weirdly blends well with each other. This is really informational about fishing.
This is movie quality animation and the attention to detail is superb, but the goofy animations and video game movement in this episode is hilarious.
This is really fun to watch because of the contrast of seriousness and funny moments. The wholsome moments also gives you a warm fuzzy feeling.
Even though this is just fishing, it makes you want to reflect on life and try new things. The slowburn and pacing just makes you want to relax and not think about things.
Even for just a fishing anime, the animation is really movie level. The pacing, colour grading, and attention to detail everything is high quality
Fishing sometimes solves most problems in this anime. The MC really is opening up slowly and surely. Despite the anime being slowburn, it really gets you intrigued by the development.
This is slowly makeing me want to try fishing. The animation and pacing really emphasizes the peacefulness and leisureliness of fishing.
Reality hitting anime with a mix of comedy and funny moments. High quality animation with good pacing. Its the perfect anime for slow days.
For this kind of anime, it has suprisingly amazing animation quality. Pacing and subtle camera shake makes it so natural like its being filmed.
Thats a sad way to start an episode. It reflects on reality way too much it also adds funny moments for contrast. Despite that, the animation is high quality with good pacing.
A calm, satisfying ending. It doesn’t go big, but it wraps things up in a grounded way. If you followed the pacing from the start, this feels complete. It’s a soft finish that respects the journey.
A quiet, reflective episode. Not much action, but it adds emotional weight. This is the kind of episode where you look back at the journey so far. Stay with it, it’s setting up the final part.
One of the stronger episodes. You can feel everything building up here. If you’ve been patient, this is where things start to feel more satisfying. Focus on how earlier moments come together in a natural way.
Still steady, but interactions feel more meaningful now. By this point, you should be used to the pacing. My tip: watch how characters influence each other subtly. The show rewards attention to detail.
A reflective episode that stays consistent with the show’s style. It’s not about action, it’s about feeling and atmosphere. Notice how the character moves through daily life. That’s where the real development is happening.
Back to a quieter tone. This episode tests your patience again, but that’s part of the experience. Focus on routine and behavior, this is where growth happens in small, realistic steps rather than big changes.
You should start feeling more invested now. The slow build begins to pay off. My advice: don’t skip or fast-forward these small moments connect everything. It’s becoming more rewarding if you stayed patient.
A calm, steady episode. Nothing flashy, but that’s the point. This show is about consistency and slow growth. Just keep watching how the character handles everyday situations, it’s subtle but meaningful.
