Synopsis
Unpei Mochizuki screws up at work — not a small oops, but the kind of mistake that makes a client's life harder and leaves him spiraling. He's a second-year employee at a machine parts wholesaler, already feeling like he doesn't belong, and now he's fantasizing about disappearing to somewhere nobody knows his name. That's when he crosses paths with Tsugumi Nagisa, a picture book author who looks younger than she is, wears glasses, and lives full-time out of her car with her dog. No apartment, no fixed schedule, just the road and whatever comes next. Unpei ends up joining her, and the TV series follows them drifting across Japan together — parking at scenic spots, cooking simple meals, stumbling into quiet little towns most people never visit. There's no dramatic plot engine here. It's about two adults figuring out what they actually want from life while the scenery slowly changes around them. The adult cast angle is a big part of the appeal — this isn't high schoolers on summer break, it's someone genuinely questioning whether the path they're on is the right one. If you liked the meditative pacing of Natsume's Book of Friends or the cozy travel vibes of Laid-Back Camp but wished the characters were older and dealing with real-world burnout, this one fits that gap nicely. It has some of that same Barakamon energy too, where removing yourself from your routine becomes the thing that helps you grow. Wholesome, unhurried, and grounded in a way that just feels honest.
