one of the most emotionally charged moments in the entire series finally lands here, years of buildup paying off in a single scene that had fans absolutely losing it, the tension is unbearable and the voice acting delivers hard

Pain is such a monster for what he did to Hinata but his speech about cycle of hatred makes so much sense when you see Naruto turning into a literal demon from grief

When that six-tailed beast form just *erupted* and the village was crumbling under him, I felt this sickening dread—it's like Naruto's worst fears about the Nine-Tails finally came true because Pain pushed him right over that edge. My stomach dropped seeing him lose himself completely, knowing how much he's always fought to keep that monster locked away.

It took so many years for Hinata to say those words and doing it when everything was falling apart made it hurt so much more and Naruto going feral was a perfect reaction

The sheer despair when Hinata was just lying there in the dirt while Pain looked down at her was too much and you can really feel why Naruto just snapped

I have been waiting for Hinata to tell him how she feels forever and for it to happen during the most hopeless fight in the village history was just brutal

Watching Naruto lose his mind and go full six tails because of what happened to Hinata was terrifying and the way the ground just shattered when he roared felt so heavy

I actually screamed when Pain stabbed Hinata right after her confession and seeing Naruto give in to the Nine Tails like that was the most intense thing this show has ever done

The shift in the atmosphere when Naruto sprouted the skeleton of the fox was chilling, especially after Hinata gave everything to protect him. It makes you realize how much he actually cares about her even if he doesn't show it often.

Hinata jumping in front of Pain even though she knew she had zero chance was the bravest thing and her telling Naruto she loves him while she was literally dying made me choke up

sagi looks so much like sasuke in this one and it really made naruto think about his friend again

The way Moso just stood there while Toki broke down about her brother Sagi really showed how cold he was and it made Naruto jumping into the fight feel totally necessary

It was impressive how much the animation stepped up for the dramatic moments, because it made the plot about Toki's identity and her brother feel much more serious

I usually skip the filler arcs but this one actually got me with the Toki reveal. It was so sad hearing how she took her brother's name just to hunt down Moso and get justice. Naruto bringing up Sasuke's path felt like a heavy moment because you can tell he is still hurting over what happened at the hospital. I am glad I didn't skip this one.

It is crazy how Naruto sees the same darkness in Toki that he saw in Sasuke and you can really feel his desperation to save her from that path

The direction in this one felt way more cinematic than the rest of the cursed warrior arc especially during the scene where Toki was crying about her brother

Watching Naruto connect Toki's obsession with Moso back to the way the Uchiha left the leaf village really makes these filler episodes feel like they actually have a point

I felt for Naruto when he tried to stop Toki from throwing her life away for revenge because he is clearly just thinking about Sasuke the whole time

The animation during that fight at the end was looking really good and the way the lights moved made the whole scene feel more vivid than anything else in this arc

That reveal about Toki living as her brother Sagi this whole time to get back at Moso was a pretty heavy twist for a filler episode

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 166 sits deep in Naruto's extended filler stretch (episodes 136-220), specifically continuing the 'Cursed Warrior Conspiracy' arc. The previous episode revealed the arc's true antagonist, pushing Sagi toward a personal reckoning that drives the tension here. This episode bridges that revelation and the arc's conclusion in the following episode, 'When Egrets Flap Their Wings,' where the consequences of Sagi's choices come to a head.
