Naruto really tried to take on those giant brothers and it is weird seeing him struggle so much after all the stuff he has been through lately

It was pretty cool to see the Third Hokage actually caring about Iruka and giving him that talk about Naruto because people always act like Hiruzen was mean

I usually skip filler, but Mizuki being a total psycho makes this arc worth it for me. That scene where he admitted he only pretended to be Iruka's friend to make him miserable was actually pretty dark, and it made me feel so bad for Iruka because he genuinely looked up to the guy. Also the new ending song Speed is a great song.

My heart actually hurt when Iruka realized his old friend was just using him the whole time and Mizuki is such a snake for doing that

I hate Mizuki so much and he really told Iruka that their whole friendship was a lie just to get closer to the Hokage

Mizuki saying his kindness was a total act just to mess with Iruka is so cruel and he really is a bottom tier person for that

People always hate on the Third Hokage, but seeing him guide Iruka and Kakashi in that flashback was really nice. It shows he actually had a heart and cared about the village kids.

Seeing Mizuki back after all this time is wild and he is even more of a jerk now than he was in the first episode

Those big guys Fuujin and Raijin are actually kind of annoying because Naruto keeps hitting them and nothing happens at all

Another filler arc starting right after the last one is kind of a drag and I really just want to get back to the actual story soon

I know most people skip these filler arcs as soon as they see them, but I think the stuff with Iruka struggling to deal with Mizuki is actually pretty well written. It adds some layers to their history and shows how much pain Iruka is in, plus seeing the Third Hokage step in and offer that guidance was a really touching moment.

It feels weird seeing Mizuki tied to Orochimaru now but it explains how he got so strong all of a sudden and why he is causing so much trouble for the village

The animation during the fight scenes feels a bit stiff compared to the canon stuff but the focus on Iruka and his past keeps it interesting enough to watch

That new ending song by Analog Fish is actually a bop and I might just keep it on repeat for a while instead of skipping like I usually do

Mizuki claiming he was only ever nice to Iruka to look good for the higher ups is such a low blow and it makes him way more hateable than before

That scene with Hiruzen being so kind to Iruka really made me think, and it is hard to believe people call him the worst leader when he cares this much about everyone.

The filler episodes are usually pretty rough but watching Naruto act like a mentor for once is a nice change of pace and makes him feel like he is actually growing up

That flashback with the Third Hokage sharing his lunch with Naruto was so sweet and it proves he was a good man at heart

Mizuki escaped from the high security prison, and now there is a random squad to go find him, but at least Naruto is acting like a leader

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 144 continues the filler Mizuki Tracking Mission arc, picking up directly after 'Tonton! I'm Counting on You!' where Naruto and his allies began pursuing the escaped Mizuki. This installment deepens the pursuit's complications and the challenges of the makeshift squad, setting the stage for episode 145, 'A New Formation: Ino-Shika-Cho!', which shifts focus to new team configurations as the mission evolves.
