Jiraiya showing up to take Naruto away for three years of training is the best news. It is the perfect way to move on after the mission failed and it gives Naruto a real purpose

Shikamaru crying because he felt like a failure as a leader hit so hard. Everyone surviving is the only thing that matters and it was good to see his dad remind him of that

Sakura telling Naruto thank you instead of getting mad was the growth she needed. It was a sad ending to the arc but Jiraiya giving Naruto a way forward changed the mood

I have mixed feelings because the mission was technically a total failure since Sasuke actually reached Orochimaru, but seeing everyone alive in the hospital makes it feel like a win. Naruto promising Sakura he will never give up on bringing their friend back was such a heavy moment and Jiraiya giving him a path to get stronger made the ending feel better.

My heart actually broke when Naruto apologized to Sakura, but her reaction was so much kinder than I expected. That new promise he made feels like it is going to define his whole life.

Sasuke actually made it to Orochimaru and seeing him just walk into that dark lair was chilling. He really chose this path and left everyone behind and it feels so permanent now

I can finally stop worrying about Choji and Neji now that they are out of the danger zone. Seeing them in those hospital beds was tough but I am so glad they made it through

That final shot of Sasuke looking so cold at the hideout really cements that he is gone for good. It makes the promise Naruto made to Sakura feel almost impossible to keep

Seeing the mission end like this with everyone in the hospital is a bit of a downer even if they survived. It feels like the main story is just stopping here and everything else is just waiting around

The way the episode wraps up the whole Sasuke chase feels so heavy and final. Seeing him standing there with Orochimaru while the rest of the kids are back home healing is just such a depressing sight

Shikaku really gave his son the reality check he needed, and seeing Shikamaru commit to being a better leader after failing felt like the most important growth for him

I have such mixed feelings about this being the end of the main story for a while, especially after that heavy talk between Naruto and Jiraiya about the bigger threats. Seeing everyone recovering in the hospital was a relief, but knowing Sasuke is actually gone makes the whole victory feel hollow. I am probably just going to skip straight to the next series

I felt so bad for Naruto when he tried to apologize to Sakura from his hospital bed and he looked like he wanted to cry because he could not keep that promise

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 135 closes out the emotionally charged arc that dominated the preceding stretch of episodes, serving as the definitive aftermath chapter following the intense confrontation in Episode 134. It marks a critical turning point roughly 60% through the original series, pivoting from the fallout of a failed mission toward new training arcs and future challenges. This episode effectively sets the stage for the narrative's next phase, including Naruto's growth under Jiraiya and Sakura's pursuit of her own strength.
