Guy got his whole youth philosophy from his dad and seeing the origin of those self rules and the eighth gate really shows why Guy is a beast

Hearing about Duy training in secret while everyone else called him a loser was such a deep move and seeing him jump into that suicide mission to save Guy was devastating

I finally get why Guy is the way he is and seeing Duy give his life against those swordsmen made me tear up just a bit

Everyone calling him the eternal genin looked so stupid once he showed up to fight the mist swordsmen and the lore about the eighth gate of death finally makes total sense now

Duy getting mocked for being a genin while he was secretly training that hard was actually insane and the way he smiled at Guy before jumping in against the swordsmen got me

Twenty years of training to master the eight gates just to use them once to save his son is the most heroic thing in the series and it makes me love Guy even more

This version of Duy is easily the best dad in the whole show and seeing him protect the team from the seven ninja swordsmen made me wish we got the full fight, but his sacrifice was enough

Guy failing the entrance exam, but his dad still being right there, full of encouragement, gave me such a pang – it's kinda wild to realize that quiet moment really explains so much of how unbelievably hard he fought Madara, giving that whole battle so much more emotional weight.

I can't believe they put this much effort into Duy when he was barely mentioned before, but he is a legend for taking on all seven swordsmen alone and the way he taught Guy about those self rules was such a good lesson. It makes so much sense why Guy is the way he is now and I definitely shed a tear

My heart actually broke when those random ninja were making fun of Duy for being a loser because they had no idea he was a monster who mastered the eight gates

My jaw honestly dropped watching Might Duy just absolutely go for it, and it finally clicked for me where Guy's insane energy comes from. It's not just the moves, but that raw, unyielding spirit his dad poured into every last second that totally shaped the ninja he is today.

I always dismissed Duy as just that goofy eternal genin joke, but when he went up against those Mist Swordsmen, I was totally floored by his sheer resolve. Seeing him sacrifice himself the way he did made me completely rethink everything I'd assumed about him; he proved he was undeniably stronger than any of those guys who ever looked down on him.

Okay, so usually I'm kinda bored by flashbacks, but seeing all seven of those legendary mist blades go at it was actually pretty awesome, like, it totally made me forget I was even watching a flashback for a second there. I was just thinking about how terrifying it must've been to face even one of those guys, let alone all of them back in the day.

When Duy told Guy he had to follow his own rule, it just clicked for me why Guy is always so unbelievably dedicated; I've seen him push himself so hard so many times, and now I get that it's all rooted in his dad's belief in him.

I thought it was awesome how they showed young Guy starting his rivalry with Kakashi, especially since it all kicked off because his dad just told him to say thanks. It really clicked for me, and you can totally see how Guy’s earnestness in taking his dad’s words to heart led to their iconic, lifelong competition.

Did anyone else tear up seeing Duy fight for Guy's future like that? I never really considered the depth of Guy's commitment to the Eight Gates, but watching his dad literally give everything against the Swordsmen made me realize it's a profound, inherited sacrifice. It makes me wonder if Guy always carried that weight, knowing his father's ultimate act was to clear a path for him.

How could Duy bring himself to teach Guy the Eight Gates, knowing it was basically a death sentence? My mind reeled thinking about the sheer, heartbreaking depth of a father's love that would push him to give his child such a powerful, yet ultimately destructive, gift for a chance at success.

I was totally geeking out when Raiga and Juzo popped up with the other swordsmen; it made me realize just how intertwined all those old Hidden Mist stories really are. And seeing Duy brace himself for battle, man, I'm genuinely worried about how he's gonna pull this off against all of them.

When Duy explained that real victory is about protecting what's precious, it totally clicked for me and made me see all of Guy's insane dedication throughout the series in a new, emotional light. I mean, it's not just about winning fights, it's about *why* you're fighting, you know?

Duy's unwavering smile, even as the villagers openly mocked him right in front of his son, just genuinely stunned me; it must've taken immense emotional fortitude to keep that facade up and protect little Guy from their cruel words. I can't help but feel that Guy's boundless optimism isn't just a natural trait, but a profound choice he learned by watching his dad always choose joy, no matter how harsh their reality was.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Arriving directly after the explosive clash between Guy and Six Paths Madara, this episode serves as a deliberate emotional breather that deepens the stakes of that confrontation by revealing the father-son bond that forged Guy's philosophy. It contextualizes everything Guy has been fighting for and directly sets up 'The Eight Inner Gates Formation,' where the lessons from Might Duy's teachings will carry their ultimate weight in the present-day battle.
