Master Chen is a beast with that Dragon Eye move and he really made Lee work for it and seeing him realize Lee was different from his old student made me feel pretty sad

Lee used the One-Man Primary Lotus to take down the dragon and seeing him prove Master Chen wrong about taijutsu users was a great moment

Wait why are we back in filler again during the war when the manga is so ahead but I still really like seeing more Rock Lee and Guy together because they have such a good bond

Guy's backstory with his previous student really hit me with the weight of responsibility he carries, and it makes so much sense why he's fiercely protective of Lee. I never fully connected the dots before, but now I feel like he's desperately trying to rewrite that painful history and ensure Lee gets the future his other student couldn't.

Okay, I usually skip filler, but this one totally caught me off guard! Seeing Guy's past with Master Chen really made me understand his bond with Lee on a whole new level; no wonder he's always been like a dad to him.

My stomach absolutely dropped learning Chen wasn't actually around, and that someone was just honoring his memory by leaving those rice balls at the grave. I can only imagine the weight of that hope his granddaughter must be carrying, and it just makes me feel so sad for her, wishing she could find some peace.

I actually really liked this filler episode, I was genuinely surprised to learn about Guy-sensei's past student who died in the war; now it makes so much more sense why he's always been so protective and worried about Lee focusing only on taijutsu. My heart went out to Guy, and seeing Master Chen's legacy finally live on through Lee felt like a well-deserved moment of peace.

When Lee dropped the bomb that he’d already known Chen from way back at the training grounds, my jaw totally dropped! It made me realize this wasn't just some random sparring match for him, but a rivalry he'd been carrying for a long, long time, which just makes the whole fight feel so much more personal and intense.

I actually thought it was kinda awesome how Lee was able to counter that legendary leaf dragon technique with his own style; even for a filler episode, it really showed off his taijutsu progress and made me smile.

Master Chen's sacrifice, all because his student couldn't use ninjutsu, really caught me off guard. It made me realize the heartbreaking parallel to Guy's own anxieties about taking on Lee; he must have been terrified of repeating that same tragedy.

I was genuinely blown away when Chen just created that massive wind dragon by literally kicking the air; honestly, how do you even pull that off? It totally made sense that Lee, being Lee, would immediately get obsessed with trying to figure out the secret to such an insane move, I mean, that's just so him.

I was so impressed when Lee figured out to aim for the dragon's eye; it felt like he really leveled up from his early genin days, totally showing off that mastery we've seen hints of.

Honestly, I was so taken aback by how smooth that wind dragon kick looked; it really popped off the screen! Usually, filler episodes don't get that kind of animation budget, so I was genuinely surprised by the quality.

What an unexpected punch to the gut this 'filler' was, especially when I saw Guy's misty eyes watching his old master fight; it made me realize just how much that man means to him. And Lee's One-Man Primary Lotus against the Leaf Dragon God? I cheered so loud, feeling like all his hard work and dedication finally paid off in the most epic way possible.

Okay, so I usually bail on these filler episodes, but seeing Guy-sensei just totally lose it over his old training philosophy was genuinely surprising. It really made me think about how much that past student must've haunted him, almost making me understand why he was so cautious with Lee, and then them just bawling together... man, that was tough to watch.

When Azami brought those rice balls to the grave, I immediately felt how much respect she still has for Master Chen, even after all this time. It wasn't just some old legend anymore; it made me believe in the strength of their bond, knowing how his memory clearly stuck with her.

I was so hyped that this episode was all about taijutsu, especially seeing Lee push himself against the Leaf Dragon technique; it really brought me back to his earlier fights where he just never gave up, no matter what.

Master Chen really blew me away with that Leaf Dragon God technique; I honestly didn't expect it to be so dynamic and powerful in action! Seeing him live up to all the legends just makes me wonder how many other forgotten masters are still out there, ready to drop some insane taijutsu on us.

I found it really unsettling to see Master Chen back as a reanimation, especially since Guy had to confront someone he once looked up to. It just makes me wonder how messed up it must be for him to fight his old hero like that; that's gotta be a total mind trip.

Lee’s taijutsu prowess in that fight really put a massive smile on my face; I was honestly getting so sick of all the big flashy energy attacks. Seeing him move like that, it just reminded me how much pure grit he’s always had, going back to when he couldn't even use ninjutsu. My respect for him just keeps growing.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting deep in the Fourth Shinobi World War arc at episode 312 of 500, this is a standalone filler sandwiched between the 'Prologue of Road to Ninja' movie tie-in and another filler featuring a weather-controlling reanimated shinobi. It doesn't move the main war narrative forward, but it uses the Reanimation Jutsu backdrop to spotlight Might Guy and Rock Lee in a character-driven detour before the canon storyline resumes.
