I usually skip the filler stuff but Deidara is too entertaining to ignore and his constant screaming about art is always hilarious in these scenes

It was so satisfying seeing him get trapped back in the black box because he could not resist chasing a fake Sasuke

Kurotsuchi calling him big brother while she was setting that trap made their dynamic feel so much more real and it was a cool bit of backstory

Mifune and the samurai actually held their own pretty well against the explosions and it was cool seeing them get some shine during the war

I thought the animation in this one was surprisingly good for a filler, especially during the Mifune fight scenes

Watching that Zetsu clone try to help Deidara escape only to get wiped out so fast was hilarious and they really are just fodder at this point

That moment where Deidara realized being an immortal zombie ruined his whole explosive art philosophy was actually kind of deep for a random filler episode

Kurotsuchi dressing up as Sasuke just to bait Deidara out of that puppet was so funny and it actually worked because he is so obsessed with that rivalry

I was laughing the whole time Deidara was making those ridiculous faces while looking for more clay and it is nice seeing him act like a total weirdo again

I actually had a pretty good time watching them chase Deidara through the woods, even though I was kind of annoyed that the whole thing ended up being a bit of a wild goose chase in the grand scheme of things. I thought it would lead to a bigger confrontation for sure.

Deidara's "exit" here really threw me for a loop; I mean, after his *real*, earth-shattering explosion, this just felt so… anticlimactic and undeserved for a guy like him. It makes me wonder why they couldn't give him even a fraction of that intensity in this filler.

I was seriously impressed with how fluid the clay bombs looked during that fight against the alliance at the end, it almost made me miss Deidara's earlier fights. The animation really showed off how dangerous those explosives are.

My excitement for Deidara's return quickly turned to a shrug, because he just felt like a shadow of his former explosive self, and I couldn't connect with his whole 'art is an explosion' thing when the stakes felt so strangely low. I really kept thinking about his epic fights against Sasuke and Gaara, wondering if this reanimation jutsu somehow zapped his true passion, even with that neat White Zetsu bit and some decent animation.

Was it just me, or did Deidara's explosive art feel kinda wasted this episode? After seeing him go all out against Sasuke and Gaara, I was genuinely bugged that his grand return ended up being glorified fodder for some random Zetsu detour, completely muting his signature explosions.

I thought it was pretty neat to see Kurotsuchi actually visiting Deidara in his cell, it's just such a shame that this whole flashback feels so disconnected from the main story, making their chat feel kinda pointless. It's like, why even bother building up this cool idea if it doesn't lead anywhere?

When Deidara went down so fast, I was genuinely surprised and kinda let down, especially after all the crazy, drawn-out exits he's had before; it felt so unlike him. Where was the explosive grandeur I've come to expect from my favorite artist? I barely felt any stakes during his supposed escape, which honestly just made me wonder if they were trying to rush things.

I was actually pretty surprised by how fluid the animation got during that alliance battle in the last few minutes, it really made the chaos feel more impactful. Honestly, the way those explosions looked was so much better than I expected, it just ramped up the intensity of the whole thing for me.

Gah, seeing Deidara again here in some random filler just felt wrong to me after his epic, world-shaking battle with Sasuke. I mean, it totally cheapened his big, explosive send-off, which was such a defining moment for his character!

Is it just me, or is Kabuto's whole 'crazy' thing feeling really unconvincing without any real strategic depth behind it right now? I just can't help but compare him to Pain's chilling conviction or Madara's effortless gravitas, and he just doesn't stack up for me.

Kurotsuchi really got under Deidara's skin during this filler, didn't she? I mean, I cracked up seeing him, even reanimated, still acting like such a diva about his explosive art, especially when she completely undermined his whole "art is an explosion" philosophy. It makes me wonder if he'll ever truly chill out, even after all this time.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at episode 280 of 500, this filler installment arrives during the sprawling Fourth Shinobi World War stretch, following 'White Zetsu's Trap' and the chaos of reanimated shinobi clashing with the Allied Forces. It pauses the main conflict to offer a standalone character study of Deidara before subsequent episodes return to individual battles and alliance-driven storylines within the war. Viewers tracking only canon material can bypass this without missing any plot advancement.
