My excitement for Deidara's return quickly turned to a shrug, because he just felt like a shadow of his former explosive self, and I couldn't connect with his whole 'art is an explosion' thing when the stakes felt so strangely low. I really kept thinking about his epic fights against Sasuke and Gaara, wondering if this reanimation jutsu somehow zapped his true passion, even with that neat White Zetsu bit and some decent animation.
