the immersive quality of this narrative is profound. it encourages the audience to simply sit in deep contemplation alongside the protagonist. the subtle character building surrounding the supporting cast is excellent.

A slow-burn episode interrogating Rei’s inner thoughts and turmoil done in a beautiful artistic manner, as he struggles to find meaning. Meanwhile Hina spends some time with Rei while running into the person she least wanted to run into right there.

To find somewhere where he can belong. That was Kiriyama’s wish or rather, something he felt he needed to wish thanks to what has been said to him. But what that means? Is becoming a professional player enough? Is going to school enough? Or is it having people in his life?

The fact that Rei just bottles it up inside and doesn't talk to anybody about it for years :( I really love how the Kawamoto sisters take care of him. They just don't push themselves to be part of his life, but they open their doors so Rei can come inside.

The story starts to show more about his past problems. It is a little sad and serious but the story is strong.

I really like Rei's teacher who is so supportive. I also like the way Hina worries about Rei. It is really emotionally at the end.

This episode features deeper lore. Hina's perception on Rei's troubles is the highlight. That said, the pacing is quite slow. The narration remains great, the design is good, and the story is nice, but the amount of info dumps is a bit overwhelming. Overall, a nice episode.
