the directing in this episode is genuinely masterful. transitioning away from the expected flat color schemes into highly expressive, vibrant palettes perfectly accentuates the aggressive shogi strategies being displayed.

i need to shake the director's hand bro i know absolutely nothing about shogi but watching talented people go all out is so much fun. giving your servant an 80-day cruise trip is insane btw

We meet Rei’s self-proclaimed rival who seems incapable of taking a hint as well as a few eccentric older shogi players. We see more of Akari and her backstory, demonstrating she and Rei are more similar than previously thought.

A battle of shogi, a heated rivalry with a self proclaimed best friend but on top of all that, the space left by those who cannot be with us anymore. 3-gatsu continues to introduce some memorable characters while hitting at all the emotional undertones that make them special.

I'm glad that new characters were being introduced in this episode. It makes the story more interesting. I'm now curious about what Rei's past is.

It still feels slow, but you start to get why he experiences problems. Some scenes have nice visuals, but the mood stays a little sad.

The story is very easy to follow. I really enjoyed the slow pace that was presented.

This episode comes with deep lore and interesting developments. On a note, it reflects on the realities of life—and for real, not all adults are good. I also like how the sisters deal with Rei. That said, I really like the direction—the scenes are amazing and engrossing.
