hearing him say he is even terrible at depression while looking for jobs in magazines was so incredibly sad. he was just a baby :( like he was introduced as a prodigy but it is so obvious he is just a child lacking experience.

the depiction of him suffocating under the pressure of the match is high-level storytelling. subverting the infallible prodigy trope by showing him suffer realistic defeats grounds his character in profound vulnerability.

the internal monologues are always hitting the mark, watching him literally start to suffocate during the game was definitely intense. it's crazy how they make him out to be a genius but he still loses like a normal, inexperienced kid. good writing always

Tatsuyuki faces off against Gotou as he contemplates his chances of winning while being concerned for Rei. Meanwhile Rei’s obsession with taking down Gotou seems to be blinding him to the opponent he’s now currently facing off.

I feel like this moment is significant for Rei's growth as a person. For him to realize that he cannot manage everything alone, and he needs people by his side.

Caught up with his sight on the wrong opponent, Kiriyama finally realizes his mistake, but… is it a little too little too late? The semi final match of the Shishi-ou Tournament continues between Kiriyama and Shimada. Will Kiriyama have his head split open just like Nikaidou asked

Rei's efforts are truly impressive. While there are certainly many difficult things to consider at his age, I am truly touched by Rei's struggle.

in this episode they gives more chances to talk to other people. The tone seems a little lighter but his problems are still there in the background.

I really love how the story unfolds without any plot armor. This realism is immersive and makes it easier to connect with the characters. That aside, Smith’s fondness for Strawberry makes me smile. Overall, impressive—the tension, the outcome, and the cuteness are all top-notch.
