they never half-ass any of the character writing here. im really liking this ep, love how they used his simple morning routine and breakfast to give us a peek into his personality.

utilizing mundane, everyday tasks like preparing breakfast to implicitly convey character nuances is a hallmark of excellent visual storytelling. the supporting cast, particularly smith, continues to be thoroughly engaging.

the way they animate even the most basic stuff like eating breakfast is so expressive, they give every single character so much personality. super interested to see exactly where this is going next

Tatsuyuki faces off against Gotou as he contemplates his chances of winning while being concerned for Rei. Meanwhile Rei’s obsession with taking down Gotou seems to be blinding him to the opponent he’s now currently facing off.

The Shishi-ou Tournament continues with 2 important matches. On one side, Smith versus Gotou and on the other, Kiriyama versus Shimada. Expecting to face Gotou in the next round, things for Kiriyama might not go as simple as he wishes when his focus is on the wrong opponent.

It's nice that the other players were given importance as well, where they were able to showcase how good they are.

I didn't expect Nikaido to be that good, even though she seemed a bit unconvincing at first, it turns out she cares that much about Rei.

The story is more about what he thinks and feels and very quiet but it is very deep but they make it clear how he is feeling.

Surprisingly, it’s hard to hate Gotou. His character may be flawed, but I can’t deny his coolness and charisma. What a character with a great aura. Overall, a great episode—the animation is smooth, the BGM is great, and the scenes are quite wholesome despite the tension.
