Kingdom

Synopsis
In ancient China, a war-orphaned slave named Xin has exactly one goal: become a Great General. He and his best friend Piao spend their days training with sticks, dreaming big in a world that couldn't care less about two nobodies at the bottom. Then Piao gets recruited to the royal palace, and comes back dying. His last words send Xin to meet a young king named Ying Zheng, who looks exactly like Piao, and suddenly this kid with no name and no status is caught up in a bloody struggle for the throne of Qin. That's the first two episodes, and the show just keeps escalating from there. Kingdom is a 38-episode TV series set during China's Warring States period, and it leans hard into the military strategy and large-scale battlefield chaos that era is known for. The political scheming runs deep, alliances shift constantly, and Xin has to claw his way up from nothing through sheer stubbornness and raw talent. If you liked Vinland Saga's blend of historical brutality and personal ambition, or the way Berserk throws a lone fighter against impossible odds within a larger political landscape, this hits similar notes. It shares DNA with Arslan Senki too, young ruler fighting to reclaim a kingdom, loyal warriors rallying to the cause. Fair warning: the early CGI takes some getting used to. But once you're locked into the characters and the stakes, it stops mattering. The story underneath is worth the patience.

This episode delivers an intense battlefield drama and strong character moments. The episode builds tension effectively, showcasing strategy and determination. It keeps viewers engaged with its action and evolving stakes.
The animation has improved a lot, and I hope it gets even better next season. The climax was legendary. Ou Ki truly died like a legend on the battlefield. It was heartbreaking but also fitting for a great general. He iss the goaaaatttttttt!
Maybe I got used to the animation, or it just improved, but it’s not bothering me anymore. This episode was pure high energy. Both sides are fighting with everything on the line. Still feels like overkill though, deploying that much just to kill Ou Ki.
Getting a backstory right in the middle of the battle was interesting. Even a great general like Ou Ki had a tragic love story. Makes the fight feel heavier. And man, I really hate Hou Ken now, hope someone humbles him soon.
Now this is the action I’ve been waiting for. A true legend vs legend fight. The presence both of them carry is insane, the whole atmosphere changes when they clash. Ou Ki is an absolute monster on the battlefield.
Big lips is in trouble now… please don’t kill him, he’s the one supposed to properly train this idiot MC. The strategies are getting interesting though. This Ri Boku guy seems to be pulling the strings everywhere. So he’s the new great general everyone’s talking about?
That was a surprise, a whole new army showing up. Feels like this Ri Boku guy is the mastermind behind everything. I get the feeling he’s going to be a long, calculating villain. The scale of this war just keeps getting bigger.
Man, enough deaths already… poor Bi Tou didn’t deserve that. That one actually hurt. Things feel a bit calmer now after all that chaos, but I’m really curious to see what happens next.
That night raid was unexpected. Hou Ken is an absolute monster, honestly not sure if even Ou Ki can beat him. We finally get to see Kyou Kai’s true power too. Things are clearly moving toward a big finale now.
Another living legend shows up. Feels like someone’s death is coming soon, I just hope it’s not Ryu Sen or Kyou Kai. The tension is building and now Ou Ki is finally stepping in. Looks like we’re about to see a clash between legends.
The war is finally getting interesting now. But this Ryou Fui guy is really annoying, I hate vain characters like that. Mou Bu though… absolute monster. The way he just crushed the enemy’s strategy with pure strength was crazy.
This episode was actually pretty nice. Finally some strategy and teamwork instead of just yelling and marching. The war is moving forward well, and Xin already has a group of loyal men behind him. This is more like what I signed up for.
Overall a good episode, though it felt a bit scattered. I’m still not used to the animation style. It’s Shin’s first mission as a squadron commander.i thought Mou Bu is another loud guy, but honestly he might really be the mightiest in the Middle Kingdom like he claim
Looks like a real monster is on the loose now—Hou Ken. Finally the war feels serious and the hype is real. I’m hoping Ou Ki absolutely humiliates him. This is more like it, proper war vibes, though I’d still prefer even more action.
Another war already? Feels like things are moving fast into the next conflict. The episode itself is pretty slow though, mostly setup. Looks like they’re building something bigger. Hoping we finally get to see Ou Ki in full action soon.
I thought this anime would be more grounded, but it’s leaning pretty fictional now. Still, Xin getting the chance to train under a great general is a big moment. Gotta admit he has guts to ask someone like that for training.
We get a bit of Kyou Kai’s backstory here and it’s honestly heartbreaking. You can see how much revenge drives her. Not a lot happens this episode though, it’s mostly everyone setting their sights on their new goals.
Xin is really lucky to witness a battle between true generals. Ou Ki honestly feels like a living legend, enemies getting scared just hearing his name says everything. After so many sacrifices, finally winning the war felt satisfying.
Looks like Ou Ki is really hyping things up now. Most of the episode is talking about the difference between clever generals and instinctual ones. Still, Hyou’s fighting scenes were exciting to watch.
Good world building here, but it’s mostly chatter again. Ou Ki continues to look like an absolute monster though, the guy is just cool every time he appears. Xin still doesn’t seem to realize how weak he is yet, and he’s still way too loud.
