Steel Ball Run: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A paraplegic ex-jockey with nothing left to lose, Johnny Joestar is a man who has hit rock bottom. When he witnesses a mysterious Italian named Gyro Zeppeli use steel balls that spin with impossible precision, Johnny feels something return to his legs for the first time in years. That's enough reason to enter the Steel Ball Run, a grueling cross-country horse race from San Diego to New York in 1890, with fifty million dollars on the line and thousands of competitors willing to do just about anything to win. This ONA from David Production adapts Part 7 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and it's widely considered the peak of the entire series. The setting shifts to an alternate universe American frontier, which means you don't need any prior JoJo knowledge to jump in. The central dynamic between Johnny and Gyro is genuinely one of the best duos in manga; their chemistry carries even the quieter stretches. The 'Spin' power system replaces Stands (mostly) and feels fresh, grounded in geometry and physics before going completely off the rails in the best way. The art direction blends Western grit with surreal, almost painterly visuals, and the tone walks this tightrope between mysterious conspiracy thriller and strange buddy road trip. If you liked the strategic depth of Hunter x Hunter's fights, the emotional weight of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, or the slow-burn revelations of Attack on Titan, this hits similar notes while feeling entirely its own thing. A seinen-targeted JoJo with real teeth.

Steel Ball Run episode 1 is better than sex itself, damn. Araki genuinely knows how to make every story he writes feel so fucking cool. I was already enjoying the episode, but those last five minutes completely pulled me in. When they started running, I was literally at the edge of my seat. I don't even know when I stopped casually watching and just completely locked in. The tension during that race was insane. If the rest of Steel Ball Run is even close to this, we're fucking eating good.
Phenomenal.
Love the opening
This felt surprisingly fresh. It has some familiar vibes, but still manages to feel unique, and the quality stays solid the whole time.
First off... glad that Jojos back, but is it me or the Ms.Robinson fight is hella rushed ? but whatever visually the ep. looked nice and I enjoyed it. Only big thing is the outro like wtf is that lmaoooooo. That outro really isnt worthy of being in part 7.
The episode was amazing. Gyro not getting first place was surprising and I actually think Cowboy Tim is the killer.
Walaupun aku senang SBR berlanjut, episode ini sedikit mengecewakan. Ada pertarungan pertama di episode ini, tetapi terasa agak anti-climactic. Biarpun still dan visualnya bagus animasinyaagak kurang.

Episode 1 delivers a fantastic start, blending wild adventure, intense competition, and JoJo’s signature style. The introduction of Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli creates immediate intrigue, making the Steel Ball Run race feel epic from the very beginning.
Steel Ball Run” starts with a grand sense of adventure, introducing a unique cross-country race filled with mystery, ambition, and larger-than-life personalities. The episode does an excellent job setting up the world while immediately capturing the bizarre charm that defines JoJo
SBR IS REALLL
Great start for this new part! A little slow for my personal taste but it still does a great job on introducing the setting and all the main characters.
COME ON THAT WAS THE BEST THING EVER. oh my god the climax and the instrumental pairing together as everyone's running for the finish line??? AMAZING. it's so annoying how netflix paced this part i actually hate them so bad
