There’s more emotional texture here than the early episodes initially suggested the series would have. It doesn’t suddenly become overly dramatic either, which helps. Some transitions still feel a little awkward, but seeing another side of Jiyu makes her feel less like someone simply reacting to whatever craziness appears around her.
