Horimiya: The Missing Pieces
Oshimeter
Synopsis
If you walked away from Horimiya wishing you could just hang out with those characters a little longer — that's basically what this is. Horimiya: Piece is a 13-episode TV series that revisits Kyouko Hori and Izumi Miyamura — the popular girl hiding her home life and the quiet loner covered in piercings and tattoos — along with their whole friend group at Katagiri High School. But instead of retelling the main romance, this fills in the gaps. The missing pieces, literally. It's structured around smaller moments: the dumb jokes between classes, the awkward group hangouts, the quiet conversations that don't move the plot forward but make you care about everyone more. The vibe is warm and unhurried, like flipping through a yearbook with someone and stopping to laugh at every other photo. CloverWorks handles the animation again, and the character work still looks great — expressive faces, soft color palette, all the things that made the original feel cozy. If you liked Toradora or Kimi ni Todoke for the way they balanced romance with genuine friendship dynamics, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU's character-driven approach will also find a lot to appreciate here. Fair warning though — if you haven't seen the original Horimiya, start there first. This one assumes you already know and love these people. It's less about where the story goes and more about savoring where it's been.
