Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After leaving Tokyo for Hokkaido in the dead of winter, Tsubasa Shiki almost immediately regrets it. The guy is completely unprepared, freezing, lost, and stranded in a landscape that looks beautiful but feels like it's actively trying to kill him. Then he meets Minami Fuyuki at a bus stop, a local gyaru who's somehow rocking a short skirt in sub-zero temperatures like it's nothing. She's loud, warm, and way too friendly for someone he just met, and she basically saves him from becoming a Tokyo-shaped popsicle. From there, this 12-episode TV series settles into a cozy rhythm of Tsubasa adjusting to small-town Hokkaido life while his relationship with Minami slowly develops. The comedy leans on the culture shock between city kid and countryside native: the distances between places, the cold that never lets up, the local dialect that Tsubasa can barely follow. What makes it stand out from the usual romcom setup is the Hokkaido setting itself. The snow-covered scenery gives the whole thing a distinct visual identity, and the show actually takes time to highlight regional quirks and culture rather than just using it as wallpaper. The romance moves at a gentle pace, more about warmth building between two people than dramatic confessions. If you liked the gyaru dynamic in My First Girlfriend is a Gal or the slow-burn school romance vibes of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, this one fits right in that lane, but just colder and a lot more snow.

Well that was a funny twist. I can't help but feel it's a bit of a cop-out, but it does lead to a sweet ending with more to come in the future. With not much but the finale to contend with, the episode pacing was noticeably faster than usual.
Unexpected ending to a really wholesome episode. A bit of a knife twist in the gut, but an overall nice shakeup to what has mostly been a pretty static anime with relatively slow progression. The story actually starts to get somewhat interesting leading into the finale.
Not a lot happens in this episode, and unfortunately, nothing really happens that justify the slow pacing. One segment of the episode kind of overstays its welcome. A large portion of this episode could've just been a select few scenes, with room for more actual story.
Mostly a food episode, which is fine as it's an excuse for the cast to interact with one another even more. And even more Hokkaido landmarks and activity showcase, which should be pretty interesting for those interested about that.
Date, yakiniku, and more Hokkaido outing. Rena shows more of herself to Tsubasa in their date, establishing a new bond. More aspects of Kitami and Hokkaido are being shown, with even some tidbits about Hokkaido home-culinary.
Rena-senpai knows what she likes and she knows what she wants. It's exam time, and all our characters are doing their best for it. A wrench is thrown into Fuyuki's plans with the bold and brash Rena-senpai in the mix.
Not much Hokkaido exploration this time, but moreso exploration on Tsubasa as a character more. Perhaps even exploring as to why he is so high-strung and timid. Episode is well-paced, even with not much actually going on.
Valentine episode with some progress on the relationship of the two main girls so far. Pacing is a bit better than past episodes. Overall a wholesome episode that focuses a bit less on Tsubasa and more on the girls.
Most a bonding episode between the three characters. Not a lot of going on aside from character interactions and fleshing out Hokkaido more as a setting. Goes a bit heavy on the fanservice at the end, but mostly cute stuff.
Fairly slow burn episode that serves the purpose of introducing a new character. Adds to the character dynamic as the new character is fairly different from Fuyuki. Pacing is a bit slow, but episode does showcase another Hokkaido landmark.
The show feels like it's being an advertisement for Hokkaido. Still, it's a really cozy romcom while balancing that factor. We meet Tsubasa's grandma, which really accentuates how 'out-there' a gyaru is for the older folks.
A comfy start for a comfy show. Our two main characters get to know one another through a happenstance meetup and things start rolling from there. It's the classic nerd and gyaru trope set in Hokkaido.
I totally didn't expect the thing that happened in this episode, but it's really wholesome, so I'm not complaining!. Besides that, this last episode really gave me the vibe that the story will definitely continue in season 2. Overall, 8/10 episode, recommended!
Who can imagine that you can put the most romantic scene and a heartbreaking scene in the same episode in this anime!. I really want to know how this will play out in the next episode (hope the best for these two 'best friends'!"
Hmm... there aren't many things happening in this episode. The usual sweet moments are still exist but I would say it's not that many or enough to make me smiling wide like some previous episodes, I will give it 7/10 I think
What a bait and switch, you thought Minami is going to leave for a long time. but nope! it really is just for two weeks. Overall it's a great final episode, it ends on high note with Tsubasa being honest about how he feels about Minami. It's a huge progress for him and it's great
Well this one is particularly special, the sceneries of hills full of cherry blossoms are very unique, I've never seen anything like it before, and it's all real in actual Hokkaido! Also the romance is all time high in this episode, no more implications it's all clear and sweet.
A pretty okayish episode except nearing the end where it does build up towards something for Minami. The game time with Sayuri is unnecessarily too long, the bonding/romantic moment itself is nice but there's no need to actually showcase the game itself in my opinion.
I find it funny it took this Matsuo dude a whole month from Valentine's day to even apologize to Minami, and he HAD to ask Tsubasa for advice about it, it's just hilariously absurd. We learn about Minami's dream and her moments with Tsubasa is especially BOLD in here. 8.5/10
