Coming off Isumi's solo journey in China, the series continues its late-run pattern of spotlighting supporting characters' formative experiences, deepening the ensemble before the final stretch. 'The Fated Encounter' rewinds to Akira Toya's pre-professional days, adding crucial emotional context to his rivalry with Hikaru as the series approaches its conclusion with only nine episodes remaining. This retrospective lens sets the stage for the eventual collision of paths that defines the entire show.
