REIII! 🤪 That transformation from "pretty boy" to "strange face" had me rolling! It’s so good to see the gang back. The chemistry between Yui and Chie is already top-tier. 🎒✨

The animation totally skyrocketed compared from the 1985 adaptation. The old gag that may not be funny were turned with a new touch. Some of the scenes from the original 1st episode were still catered hence, the exaggerating captions and sound effects were no longer used.

In my opinion the episode was fantastic, from the opening to the introduction of the characters. The different characters are easily recognizable. The voice acting and backgrounds are top-notch, I give a thumbs up from here.

Episode Context

As episode one of twelve, this is purely foundational, introducing the core Kimengumi members, the school setting, and key newcomers Yui and Chie who will likely serve as audience surrogates throughout the season. No prior context needed; everything starts here. Expect subsequent episodes to build on these character dynamics and escalate the comedic scenarios now that the ensemble is assembled.
