honestly episode 9 hit different in the best way, the Ju Fa and Tao Fa flashback got me way more emotional than i expected for two characters who spent the whole time trying to kill everyone. the teamwork to finally take down their Kishikai form was satisfying, Chobei finishing it off with that ritual water while actually showing sympathy was a nice touch, and Sagiri putting her sword down and apologizing to Gui Fa was such a quiet but powerful moment. not the most action heavy episode but probably the most emotionally rich one of the season so far. also whatever Rien is cooking with those butterflies has me nervous fr

Chōbei sees how much his younger brother has grown—now acting independently and confidently rather than just following orders. Their healthier dynamic contrasts sharply with Ju Fa and Tao Fa's toxic, codependent bond.

A satisfying payoff to a long fight. The teamwork finally clicks and it feels earned. Gui Fa's revelation reframes the whole threat and the Shion cliffhanger lands with real weight. Great episode overall.

The combination of Ju Fa and Tao Fa force 4 of the main group to work together in a well-animated episode despite their differences and capacity for butting heads. We are shown the ramifications of what will occur if the Tensen are successful in reaching the mainland.

It's funny how over-the-top crazy it gets, but at its heart, there's this somber and undertone about loss and repercussions that catches you off guard. It goes a bit slow, but man, when it hits it does it hard...

A massive lore drop with unexpected consequences

From an intense battle to an intense lore drop. This episode was full of emotional and plot surprises. Loved how this episode pacing was handled.

Due to the cuts and transitions that feel a little abrupt, the immersion was not as well centered for me. This episode featured about 3 or so separate battles with their own context and characters, which made it a bit confusing and hard to recalibrate for each one.

The outcome of the battle with JuFa and TaoFa was bittersweet; i personally feel bad for them due to their sympathetic character expositions shown in previous episodes. This will hopefully give them their closure.

That gate slash was super cool. Can’t really hate taofa and jufa on this one. The character dynamic really hits the point this season.

Interested in the next episode and how it will play out. Shion seems to be experimenting with the limits of regeneration to an extreme case! What will the results of the battle be?
