Shugen is an immediately compelling addition and his grief over Eizen is surprisingly affecting. Good balance of action and character work. The two groups converging feels like the season finally shifting gear.

A looming threat approaches as the camera focuses on the next wave of executioners being sent to the island. The pacing is slower, focusing on the build up of the new group, as well as the main group and their goal to combat the Tensen.

This episode is less action-packed. The ninjas and the Yamada Asaemon join forces and reach the island, where there’s a strong sense of tension. Sagiri, Gabimaru, and the others must choose between escaping the island or obtaining the elixir

Discipline and brutality collide as fighters balance strict combat principles with survival instincts. Strategy centers on precise strikes, reading enemy intent, and maintaining composure under chaos, where adherence to a warrior’s code shapes both offense and defense.

Shugen is genuinely terrifying and I don't mean in a hype villain way... The Iwagakure ninjas are built different. Heavy on exposition though, and we're away from the main cast for too long. Necessary episode but slow.

The tension is thrilling! I can't wait to see how would they defeat the tensens with their current state. Also, the arrival of Shugen adds interesting factor as how they depicted his resolve. Can't get enough of this anime!

They really nailed the gore. This episode is dedicated to yet another OP character Shugen. The aura is so strong it’s gonna be intense to see him clash with the others.

This episode was a slow starter into some excited lore and combat. That small taste of combat from the Shinobis and the new Asaemon on the island just keeps you wanting more!!!!!!

This episode focuses more on psychological tension and character exploration than just brutal combat,The relationships and inner conflicts of each character deepen.

Gabimaru isn't trying to save the world or become the Number One Hero. He’s a legendary ninja who just wants to return to his wife. His "casual" lethality reminds me of Yuji, but he’s already a finished product at the start, making the fights fast and brutal.

This is the best anime, if you want to see the action with strong characters and little love. And this anime is dark too.

This episode highlights shifting power dynamics as combat becomes more strategic than reactive. Trust remains fragile, and survival depends on adaptability, discipline, and reading the battlefield. The pacing reinforces the constant tension of calculated risk.

This episode felt like pure buildup, but the tension is unreal. Shugen is straight-up terrifying — the kind of fanatic you know will cause chaos. The new ninjas don’t feel like allies at all, and survival odds just dropped hard. Feels like the island is about to get way deadlier

It finally picked up the pace. The fights felt heavier and more brutal, and the character tension actually mattered instead of just nonstop chaos. The visuals were clean, not quite Season 1 level, but solid. That ending hooked me instantly. One of the better episodes this season!

This episode has 1 of the important scene of the series. I love that they try to add more villains in the anime not just the Tensen. For none manga readers, this episode will give you thrill because we do not know what is the main agenda of the added characters

It's an incredible episode and also dark, seeing how far a ninja can go to show their loyalty, that was crazy, how that ninja killed himself, and singing on top of it. Mind blowing. And also we got to see new Asaemons, and they look so strong. I can't wait to see more of them

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off episode three's focus on Aza Chobe's battle and Gabimaru's tao training, this fourth episode pivots to introduce a new faction arriving on the island, fundamentally altering the power dynamics at play. It marks the early-season transition from establishing returning characters' growth to expanding the conflict's scope through Shugen's expedition. With eight episodes still ahead, this is the setup for a multi-faction collision course that will define the season's back half.
