Episode 2 is a step back from the premiere. The introduction of the magical girl subplot and two new characters feels rushed, and the episode struggles to balance its comedic core with its expanding genre ambitions. The Ryusei-Meteor dynamic is still the reason to watch, and their banter remains sharp. But the show is already showing signs of spreading itself too thin.If you liked Episode 1 for the characters, you'll still find things to enjoy here. If you were hoping the show would tighten its focus, you'll be disappointed.

Episode Context

Episode 2 shifts into school-mystery territory while keeping the comedic and romantic energy of the premiere intact. Two conspicuously odd transfer students, Mana Kuraishi and Nemuto Takigawa, arrive and immediately put Ryusei and Meteor on alert. The tone blends absurd school comedy with genuine supernatural unease, as the pair channel their former-enemy dynamic into something closer to reluctant detective partnership. Meteor gets room to shine through character-focused humor that nods to her past as a Hero, while Ryusei plays the grounded, quietly suspicious counterpart. The pacing is brisk and escalating, and the episode broadens the show's magical stakes without abandoning its playful rom-com rhythm. Fans who enjoy slow-burn banter wrapped around a building mystery will find this a satisfying, confident step forward.
