Gunslinger Girl

This episode shows another girl experiencing failure, and it made me wonder if she might end up repeating the same mistakes that led Elsa down such a tragic path. I really hope not. The story is starting to feel darker and more painful, and I'm hoping the final episode will give these girls some kind of hope for the future. What exactly went wrong in this episode? The truth I was hoping wasn't true turned out to be exactly what happened. The deaths of Elsa and her handler were truly heartbreaking and something I never wanted to see. In the previous episode, we learned about Elsa's story, and it was already a very sad one. She believed that her handler saw her as useless, even though that may not have been what he truly meant. This episode becomes even more heartbreaking as more of the truth is revealed. Sometimes, the reality behind a situation can be far more painful than what we imagine. It leaves you wondering whether not knowing the truth might have been the kinder outcome.

I really feel sorry for these girls. Even though they are highly skilled and capable, deep down they are still just children, yet they are forced to take on dangerous missions. This episode focuses on Elsa, a character who keeps her distance from everyone else and seems quite isolated. After facing a major setback, you can't help but wonder how it will affect her in the future. Will it lead her down a darker path? You'll have to keep watching to find out.

La Sección 2 de la agencia está en problemas. Por eso, cuando unos terroristas planean secuestrar a la hija de un hombre poderoso, deciden arriesgarlo todo. Es la misión más difícil que tienen las niñas y, debido al suspenso, no podía dejar de esperar lo peor. ¡Excelente episodio!

That was a beautiful ending. Bittersweet but it's a closure we needed. It was worth having a dedicated episode for it even if not much else happened. Overall, I really enjoyed this show. It oozes of quality and that is not easy to find these days. If the first season covered the girls and their situation, another season would very likely cover the plot (if there is any). It's definitely better than cramming everything into 13 episodes. It has A LOT of potential to be great rather than "good".

The mystery was put aside pretty quick but now that we're at the end of the series, it makes sense to focus on an unresolved situation with Angelica. This episode was pretty strong in terms of emotions, and I'm not even talking about the mission. With only one episode to go, I'm interested to see how it will wrap up.

Yep, this is the best episode so far. What turned out to be a regular vacation was actually a major surprise that changed the vibes of the show and the ongoing mystery. Henrietta really made sure her example would be hard ingrained into their heads. And not to mention, Gabriella was the star of this episode - I want more of her on screen.

It finally feels like the show is heading in the right direction of getting into the lore and innerworkings of the world we've been introduced to. Using the investigator was a great way to look into things (of course, that didn't come free). Especially the politics of the show and more about the cyborg topic, rather than just another mission.

Whew, another quality episode. There is ANOTHER new girl - Elsa. As usual, the mission is simple. But Elsa's interaction with her handler and Henrietta really put things into perspective about her situation - as discussed by Gioseffo at the bar. That ending was a major blow but it was icing on the cake!

A grim reality that is of the girls' modifications. Nice to get more insight on what was otherwise a topic lightly grazed upon. Wasn't expecting another girl in the mix, Angelica. This is a great, back to basics episode, like earlier in the show. Although, at this point in time, I do not know where the show is heading. But right now it's still pretty good if it's just a focus on the girls themselves.

This was definitely better than the last one in terms of pacing and direction, despite being almost similar in terms of simplicity. The action was good if only for feeling a little stale due to the animation not being up to par. Though it is a shame that this show is episodic in nature rather than following a plot using the characters we know of so far - unless that's the goal of the first season.

Compared to the other episodes, this was relatively slow paced. It wasn't bad but the setup was too long for very little payoff - and I'm not sure if we'll meet the hinted at people again. Only time will tell at this point. Definitely a weak one in the series (so far).

Damn, I thought Claes' story will be just like the others. But it turned out to be pretty tragic. They even made it a really nice journey to introduce her. That's not fair! I really wanted to see more of them while it lasted.

riela's introduction is pretty unique in that she's quite different from the others. It was great seeing her perform in what was some pretty action packed scenes during a side mission, and her relationship with her handler - piggybacking from the last two episodes. It wasn't as good as the previous ones, but it's still up there on its own. Looks like we're in for another one, seeing as though we've yet to go through one more girl in the dorm.

Another beautiful episode. Despite the kids being used as assassins, that is not the major focus (so far). This time it was focused on Rico. The way her story/role was introduced and expanded upon, from start to end, was really poetic. Poetic, yet it evokes a melancholic feeling at the same time.

What an interesting way of stitching scenes from two episodes back to back, continuing for each. This is just an introduction of Henrietta's past/history and how Gioseffo treats her, but it was somehow really calming to watch and the end of the episode is proof of that.

Holy shit, that was an exceptional opening and premise. It's not often you come across anime like this nowadays. The animation isn't top tier, but it's nostalgic of that kind of style that we were once used to and it perfectly fits the mature theme of the show. The sound effects, the setting and even the soundtrack were all great. Really looking forward to the rest of it!

This episode focuses on Angelica. For the longest time, I thought she was Claes, but it turns out they are completely different characters. Their stories do have some similarities, though both have guardians who seem very strict on the surface, but deep down genuinely care about them. This episode helps us get to know Angelica better and adds more depth to her character.
