Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After relocating to a seaside town for college, Iori Kitahara's biggest accomplishment so far is learning how to drink grain alcohol without flinching. That's basically the premise of Grand Blue, and Season 2 picks up right where things left off — with Iori back at his uncle's scuba diving shop after a trip to Okinawa, surrounded by the same group of muscular, perpetually shirtless guys who treat every gathering like a frat party that happens to be near the ocean. This time around, his sister Shiori shows up and tries to drag him home after hearing about his lifestyle, which goes about as well as you'd expect when the Peek a Boo Diving Club is involved. The appeal here is honestly pretty simple: it's one of the funniest anime about doing absolutely nothing productive in college. The diving stuff is there, and it's surprisingly genuine when it comes up, but most of the comedy is just these characters being disasters together. The facial expressions alone are worth it — Zero-G and Liber lean hard into the exaggerated reaction shots that made the manga so popular. If you liked the chaotic energy of KonoSuba or the unhinged college humor of TenPuru, this fits right in that wheelhouse. Barakamon fans might also appreciate the laid-back seaside setting, even though the vibe here is way louder and way drunker. Twelve episodes of a seinen comedy that actually understands what hanging out with your worst friends feels like.
