Granblue Fantasy: The Animation Season 2

What can I say from start to finish the deuteragonist just steals the show when they are on screen, and gave Gran a run for his money. The Prime Minister gets some last minute screen time and a nice sideview angle might I add. The story is so expansive I'm sure people like no have never played the game might have gotten interested to experience the journey first hand. The cliffhanger was set up perfectly and the unexpected result after the fight who knew right, can't wait for season 3.

The hole they looked a bit funny, I'll leave it at that. With a soulful promise Rackam was able to get through to Noa. The battlefield was spectacular the the giant made of countless airships and the crew desperately fighting for the people of the island and their friends showed their resolve in the face of the evil empire.

This episode was so hype the introduction, the commanding presence, and overall dominating force Prime Minster Bismarck gave off was something the villains in this show lacked, presentation. Our Femme Fatale, got to monologuing without fear of interruption got to give to her. The art design, the camera angles, and even the tapestries all played their part in making the scenes she was in all the more imposing. The music lent itself well to the moment. I can't wait to see more of her!

A solid finale for this season! It brings several ongoing character struggles and story threads together while still reminding us that Gran and the crew's bigger journey is far from over. I especially liked how much the characters and their bonds have developed throughout the season. Not everything gets completely wrapped up, but that actually works here. It feels more like the end of one chapter and the beginning of another 😊

I think this episode made me appreciate Rackam more than I did before. His connection to the Grandcypher has always been obvious, but now there's much more emotion behind it. Noa also adds an interesting layer to his story, especially when their shared history starts becoming more important. The episode gets pretty intense later, but I personally enjoyed the emotional side more than the action. Good development for Rackam!

Okay, the story suddenly feels much heavier again 😭 What I liked most is that Rackam continues getting meaningful development instead of the focus immediately returning entirely to Gran. His past and personal connections are starting to add another layer to a character I've mostly known as the dependable pilot. Rosetta's presence also makes things more interesting. Quite tense overall, but the character development is the highlight for me.

A much calmer episode, but honestly, I needed this 😆 Rackam gets more attention this time, which I appreciate because he often feels like the reliable older member quietly supporting everyone from the background. There's also something interesting about the way this episode handles promises and personal connections. It starts fairly relaxed, but by the end, I definitely felt like Rackam's story was about to become much more important.

I didn't expect Gran to get this much personal focus, and I'm glad he did. He's naturally brave and dependable, but those qualities can sometimes make him feel simpler than the characters surrounding him. This episode finally digs a little deeper and gives his character more emotional weight. The atmosphere is also noticeably darker than usual. One of the stronger episodes for Gran's development so far!

This episode isn't as action-heavy as I expected, but I actually liked that. Lyria and Orchis get some nice moments together, and their growing connection feels surprisingly sweet without being forced. Io also brings some personality to their interactions. Meanwhile, the other side of the story keeps enough tension going so it never becomes boring. More character-focused than exciting, but in a good way.

Well, this episode certainly changes the mood 😂 After the heavier character drama recently, I actually enjoyed getting something more mysterious and adventurous again. Sturm and Drang returning immediately makes things more entertaining too, especially because Drang always gives me that "I don't trust you, but please continue talking" feeling 😭 A fun episode overall, with enough mystery to make me curious about what's coming.

Probably my favorite episode from this arc. What initially looked like a fairly straightforward conflict becomes much more emotional once Vira and Katalina's feelings are explored properly. I especially liked that the story doesn't make everything completely one-sided. There are years of loneliness, guilt, attachment, and misunderstanding involved. Vira can be... A LOT 😂 but this episode made me understand her better.

I liked Gran a LOT in this episode!! 😆😆 He's usually kind and fairly composed, so seeing more determination from him makes his character much more satisfying to follow. The story also becomes noticeably more complicated as everyone's motivations start colliding. There is action, but I think the emotional conflict surrounding Katalina and Vira is actually the stronger part. Definitely more engaging than the previous episode for me.

Now we're getting into the emotional side of Katalina's character, and I really liked it. She's always dependable, but this episode reminds us that being responsible can become a burden when someone tries to carry everything alone. Gran and the others also show how much their relationship has grown since the beginning. Not much flashy action is needed here because the character drama already carries the episode well.

Something about this episode made me suspicious the whole time 👀 Even during the calmer moments, the story creates this subtle feeling that things aren't quite as simple as they appear. Vira especially caught my attention because her relationship with Katalina clearly has a lot of history behind it. I wouldn't call this an exciting episode, but it's a good setup for a potentially complicated character conflict.

A pretty comfortable start to the season! It doesn't rush into anything too dramatic and instead lets us settle back into Gran and Lyria's journey. I actually liked this approach because it feels like the beginning of another adventure rather than simply continuing where everything left off. Aliza is also a fun addition here. Nothing groundbreaking yet, but definitely an enjoyable opening 😊

Alright Rackam has an entire episode dedicated to him, yet he doesn't seem too thrilled. Fleshing out a character we barely get to see is a nice step into the right direction, he may not have grandiose plans, or a destiny laid out for him with the chart already mapped, but he does represent the everyman he keeps the crews morale up, and keeps them humble. I'm sure they would not have made this far without his help even if it's in the background.

Man I am calling it I knew it, I knew it this time around I was 100% spot on, of course her name was Ferry the guy knew more than he let on. The defeat of the villain of this episode didn't end in a big epic battle more like a splash in the bucket. There were inconsistent cuts between scenes, and the fight scene of Gran looked to have an error in it within the frame.

It's good the motivation of the big bad for this episode however was pretty meh. What's the point of immortality if your stuck in a way that he is, at least Ferry's immortality gives her mobility and interactions even if you can say she is stuck like him to an extent, also his immortality is predicated on consuming others. Pretty inefficient if you as me he's Orochimaru but if Orochimaru was stuck in one place forever. Anyway he's an irredeemable villain so expect no mercy from him, or for him for that matter. The revelation was neat though I liked the reaction of everyone there, the sudden shock on their faces was realistic.

The adventure continues with our heroes being relentlessly attacked by the Erste Empire. With the Empire hot on their heels the crew make a last ditch effort to lose their pursuers in foggy island. Cue the Thriller Bark arc! The art direction in this episode is quite nice and it's completed with Miku dressed in gothic attire fitting for the spooky atmosphere. Lyria is quite the character in this, she has her moments good and bad. Enjoyed every second of this, and the lore and the characters introduced makes me believe there is more to this than meets the eye.

Man it's good to be the protagonist, if Gran wasn't he'd be dead by now. Vira gets heavily nerfed when it comes to going up against the heroes. Why couldn't she blow the ship along with the smoke they shot at her, like she did with the empire's entire fleet. It would have been better with an in world eplanation that using the ability multiple times would exhaust her. The animation is badass of course the Vira finally showed a yandere side to everyone not just the viewer. She was so precious I'm sure if Katalina just gave her head pats she'd go back to being her good old self again. Seems the way I thought it would end was a little off, Knew Lyria would play a role just not how I thought it would go, still a clean way to wrap things up.
