Somewhat a Bōtaro-focused episode (although everyone has its own role to play), that still never fail to deliver on action scenes, especially during the car chase!

Words can't express how insane everthing's getting, from a treasure hunt, to a murder case, into an over the top chase sequence. Even better, it's all excellently animated all throughout. But the episode takes a hard swing back due to a heartbreaking moment midway, so get ready.

Great episode with so many things happening. It genuinely made me feel angry, sad, and anxious in just 24 minutes. The stakes felt incredibly high, and I was locked in the whole time.

A lot happened in this episode, honestly. Betrayal, loyalty, and a tense chase—man, this really felt like a roller coaster. The emotions kept shifting and the tension never let up.

This episode gave us so much. Despite all the heavy emotions, it was still an amazing watch. The pacing was great, and the mix of tension, drama, and chaos was balanced really well.

Subtle hints of conflicts between characters… I can feel the upcoming chaos. It’s driving me crazy already

Tsurumi making his move is SO intense. The prosthetic hand chopstick dispenser moment is the most Golden Kamuy thing ever, horrifying and hilarious at the same time. This show turns every single scene into something unpredictable. Absolute masterclass.

Tsurumi's strategic escalation fundamentally shifts the power dynamics. The chopstick dispenser gag demonstrates Noda's genius at embedding dark comedy into high-stakes moments. The writing layers keep getting deeper as factions realign. Narratively tight episode.

TSURUMI USING A CHOPSTICK DISPENSER IN HIS PROSTHETIC HAND TO DAZE ASIRPA IS PEAK COMEDY IN THE MIDDLE OF A KIDNAPPING. Only Golden Kamuy would pull that off. The tension is insane but I can't stop laughing. This show is truly unmatched.

Botaro shows his true colours, and the payoff feels earned given how long he's been lurking on the edges. Tsurumi also makes his most decisive move yet, which are set to reshape the dynamics going into the second half of the season.

The animation wasn't as good, but the soundtrack closing the episode enriched the episode's emotional weight. Nikaido also gets a gag this that's very on-brand for the show.

Sugimoto gets one of his best character moments! Watching him interchange between two different headspaces showed how layered he is. The sequence did a good job of showing he was more 3 dimensional multitudes.

The action scenes are so smooth here. And it's amusing that even when a serious thing is happening, something comedic still finds its way in and it doesn't feel out of place at all

I love how deep Botaro's character writing is. They built a lot around him for this episode, literally and figuratively. And that unexpected twist at the end was well-placed.

The animation is flawless in this episode from start to finish. And although a lot happened here, the series of events didn't feel overwhelming.

Tsurumi I kneel. i've been waiting for these revelations and lore drops and while my excitement hasn't been too high given the anime is just good, i'm still pleased at the voice acting and overall presentation.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Watch for Tsurumi's horrifically hilarious chopstick dispenser moment, perfectly blending intense action, high stakes, and Golden Kamuy's signature dark humor.
