Episode Context

This episode wraps up the two-part Hardboiled Detective Arc that began in Episode 84, resolving Kozenigata's long-running pursuit of Chogoro the Foxfire and delivering the arc's comedic and thematic payoff. It's a self-contained mini-arc, so no prior deep investment is required beyond the previous episode. Following this conclusion, Episode 86 pivots to an entirely new storyline involving the Shinsengumi, making this a clean narrative break point roughly 42% through the series.
