Episode Context

This episode continues the Gintoki-Hijikata predicament arc that began in the preceding episode, pushing their forced alliance to its comedic breaking point. Sitting roughly at the season's midpoint (episode 24 of 51), it wraps up this particular storyline before the show pivots to a new narrative thread in episode 25 involving Gintoki's old comrade Tatsuma Sakamoto. It's a self-contained comedic arc that serves as a palette cleanser between the season's heavier story beats.
