Episode Context

This is the middle chapter of a body swap comedic arc that kicked off in the previous episode when an accident involving Gengai's machinery swapped Gintoki and Hijikata's souls. Sitting at episode 23 of 51, it falls squarely in the season's first half where Gintama° typically cycles through standalone comedy arcs before building toward heavier narrative material. The next episode continues the fallout from this predicament, promising further escalation before any resolution.
