Episode Context

Coming off 'A Night in Boulogne,' where the Count's social presence reached a revealing peak, this episode shifts the aristocracy's intrigue from fascination into genuine alarm. The poisoning introduced here acts as a turning point, escalating the Count's shadow over the main cast. It feeds directly into 'The Letter From Edmond,' where the consequences of these mounting tensions begin their irreversible unraveling.
