Episode Context

Positioned at the midpoint of the series, this episode follows the unsettling revelations of 'The Letter From Edmond,' where the Count's carefully constructed facade began showing cracks. 'An Engagement Broken' deepens that unease, pushing the conspiracies lurking beneath Parisian society closer to the surface while the rift between Franz and Albert sharpens into something consequential. It directly sets the stage for 'Encore,' where the fallout from these escalating tensions begins to materialize in tangible ways.
