EPISODE REVIEWS

It's one of the best episodes I've ever seen and a great introduction to the world of Fullmetal Alchemist. The way they understand alchemy, even though they're just kids, is impressive, not to mention that they have to bring their mother back to life which they failed to do

Episode Context

After episodes 1 and 2 established the brothers' present-day pursuit of the Philosopher's Stone, episode 3 rewinds to provide the foundational backstory that gives their quest its emotional stakes. This is early-series world-building at its most personal, revealing the traumas and motivations that will fuel every decision Edward and Alphonse make across the remaining 48 episodes. It sets the stage for the moral dilemmas and escalating consequences that define the series going forward.
