Directly continuing from the Elric brothers' arrival in Lior in episode one, this episode completes their first major confrontation and crystallizes the moral complexities that will define the entire 51-episode journey. The encounter with Cornello deepens Edward and Alphonse's understanding of how alchemy can be weaponized through deception, foreshadowing the systemic corruption they'll uncover as their quest to restore their bodies intensifies.
