I liked when Mustang gave the do not die order to his team and it felt like things were finally getting serious for the Promised Day

That old photo of Selim from 1895 was such a creepy reveal and it makes those earlier scenes with him feel so much worse

Pride eating Gluttony was messed up because Gluttony actually seemed scared and Pride did not even care he was killing his own brother

Lan Fan using chi sensing to slice up Gluttony in the dark was a great way to show how much she improved after getting her automail

It is wild how much ground this episode covered, especially with Mustang's squad reuniting in the sewers. You really see his tactical side when he starts mapping out the final attack on Central Command

Mustang telling his team not to die in that tunnel was heavy and taking the First Lady hostage is such a bold move for the revolution to start

I was so hyped seeing Ed and Fu use those flash grenades to mess with Pride's shadows and it was so satisfying to see that brat finally look scared for a second because his powers were gone

You can really feel the weight of the mission when Mustang tells everyone not to die and that oath in the bunker was everything. He is really about to take down the whole government military hierarchy

Ed blocking Pride's shadows with his carbon fiber arm showed how much he learned from fighting Greed and the chimeras earlier

Hohenheim finally showing up near the woods has me so hyped, because the way Pride reacted to his scent makes it seem like his power is on a completely different level than everyone else

Madam Christmas blowing up her own bar to help Roy escape was such a boss move and seeing the Mustang squad reunite in the bunker felt so good after all the chaos
professor_rowan_331's avatar
professor_rowan_331
The scene where Pride used his shadows to possess Alphonse was pure nightmare fuel and it did not look like Ed would find a way out of that until the flash grenades went off and then Pride just devours Gluttony like it is nothing because he needs his nose and that level of coldness from a kid looking villain is just insane
nemurinavi_neko_470's avatar

Lan Fan coming back after losing her arm and just wrecking Gluttony was so satisfying and those flash bombs were the perfect way to shut down Pride's shadow control

Selim being a homunculus this whole time is wild because that old photo from 1895 really puts into perspective how long they have been pulling the strings in the military

The reveal about Madam Christmas being Roy's foster mother was such a good twist and it explains why she is so tough. That explosion at the bar was a great way to go out and destroy the evidence

The banter between Ed and those chimeras is the only thing keeping this show from being too depressing and Darius is surprisingly a great guy. Watching them work together against Pride in the woods was awesome

Lan Fan being back in action with her new automail hit me hard, especially since she only had a few months to recover and her chi sensing is basically a cheat code against Gluttony
askin_ascetic_483's avatar
askin_ascetic_483
I felt so bad for Gluttony at the end when he was calling out for Lust and Pride just straight up ate his own brother to get a power boost and that was actually terrifying
obanai_ophidian's avatar
obanai_ophidian
I was not prepared for how brutal Gluttony's death would be because he was basically just a big pet, and hearing him beg for his life made me sick. Pride is a literal monster for doing that to his own family just for a power boost and now that he has that sense of smell, things are looking really bad for Ed

Lan Fan coming back with that new automail was so cool and she absolutely destroyed Gluttony in the dark. That chi sensing is such a cheat code and she finally got her revenge for her arm lost in the city

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the 75% mark of Brotherhood's 64-episode run, 'The Oath in the Tunnel' lands squarely in the series' extended climactic buildup, following the revelations and shifting alliances established in 'Emissary of Darkness.' It serves as a critical pivot point where strategic preparation gives way to direct confrontation, channeling momentum toward the devastating events of 'Filial Affection' and the final arc beyond. This is deep into endgame territory—threads laid across dozens of episodes are now pulling tight.
