I am genuinely terrified of Olivier Armstrong and the way she just shut Ed down was so funny but also kind of scary. That woman does not play around and her philosophy at Briggs is brutal

I really liked the talk between Miles and Ed about his eyes and the Ishvalan history. It was cool to see Olivier respect him for his skills instead of caring about where he came from

I thought Buccaneer having a literal chainsaw for an arm was the coolest thing ever. It definitely beats Ed's basic blade especially when you see him show it off to the boys in the med room

Seeing that massive hand burst through the floor was such a shock and then it turns out to be Sloth. He looks like he could crush the whole fortress just by walking through it and he is so huge

General Armstrong is a total nightmare, but seeing her command those tanks against Sloth shows why she runs that fort

Olivier is a total powerhouse for telling Miles to kill her or follow her. That flashback showed exactly why everyone at Briggs is so loyal to her and why they call her the Ice Queen

Miles showing his red eyes really caught people off guard and learning about how he survived the purge because of his mixed blood was intense

Sloth complaining about how everything is a pain while he destroys an entire hangar is a funny way to introduce a monster

I was so surprised when Falman showed up working as a regular guard at the bottom of the fort after being sent away from Mustang and his team, because seeing him so tired and worn out made the North feel even more isolated and lonely, and I just want him to get back to the rest of the group soon

The part where Ed realizes his arm could literally freeze to his skin is so brutal and it makes the North feel way more dangerous than anywhere else they have been so far

General Armstrong is actually terrifying and she makes her brother look like a total softie. Seeing her shut Edward down for being a little runt was so satisfying since he finally met someone he can't outyell

I could not stop laughing when Ed finally met someone scarier than his own teacher and he did not even try to argue about his height

The tanks pushing Sloth back with pure force was a smart move and Olivier is way more prepared than the officers in Central

I really felt for Ed when the medic yelled at him about his arm freezing to his skin and the cold at Briggs seems like a whole different beast

Sloth bursting through the floor was a shock and he is so huge and weirdly unbothered by everyone shooting at him

That chainsaw arm on Buccaneer is actually terrifying and it makes sense that they need specialized gear to survive in those mountains

Olivier shutting Ed up just by looking at him was hilarious and she is terrifying compared to her brother

Poor Falman is just stuck scraping icicles off the ceiling and he looks so tired. Seeing him again was a nice surprise even if his new job is basically manual labor in the freezing cold

The narrative and lore around Briggs, Mira and Miles was excellent! The entire dialogue while Ed was probing didn't feel draggy at all, it's very immersive as you experience these new things with him

Awesome payoff compared from the last episodes. The introduction of Sloth was nicely executed and a familiar face in the midst of this new environment definitely makes the episode better

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 34 deepens the Briggs arc that began with the brothers' arrival at the northern fortress in episode 33, 'The Northern Wall of Briggs,' establishing General Armstrong as a major player and shifting the series' power dynamics away from Central. This episode bridges the initial culture shock of the north with the larger conspiratorial threads the brothers will pull on in 'The Shape of This Country,' as the military's hidden operations begin surfacing. Sitting at the series' midpoint, it marks Brotherhood's expansion beyond the familiar cast and sets the stage for revelations that will reshape the entire conflict.
