Gluttony turning into that giant mouth beast was terrifying, and the way he just erased the house and the forest made it clear that alchemy might not be enough to stop a monster that eats space.

When Ed and Ling came to in that awful, bloody abyss, my stomach dropped because it just felt like some twisted, forgotten graveyard for souls. But then seeing Roy just standing there amidst all those smiling, truly monstrous high command members made me feel absolutely sick, like there's no way out for him or anyone.

The military is way more corrupt than anyone thought and seeing Mustang walk into that room full of generals who are all in on the conspiracy felt like he was walking into his own grave

Selim, innocently reading his essay about King Bradley being a hero, actually made my skin crawl a little, especially since I'm fully aware of Bradley's true nature as Wrath. It’s wild to me how flawlessly Bradley keeps up his human act, even with his supposed son, which only makes him more menacing.

I still can't believe Gluttony just ate Ed and Ling and even Envy and now Al is just standing there alone in that crater it made me so sad to see his arm reaching out for nothing

I thought Envy was just a jerk but seeing his true form starting to show when Ling mentioned the screaming souls inside him made me realize how messed up he really is

Mustang walked right into a room full of generals and they all just laughed at him and King Bradley sitting there like the boss of a whole evil government is the scariest reveal yet

Envy pulling that trick by looking like Lan Fan was so messed up and Ling looked genuinely rattled by it

That disembodied voice talking down to Bradley in the hallway was creepy and it makes you wonder who is actually at the top of the hierarchy

That abyss Ed is trapped in with the ruins and the dark liquid is so eerie and hearing his voice echo while he searches for Ling is genuinely haunting

Al trying to save Ed as he got sucked into that vacuum was heartbreaking and now he is just left standing there in that huge empty crater all alone

The scale of the nationwide transmutation circle theory actually made my stomach drop because the homunculi are planning to sacrifice millions of people

I felt so sick when Envy turned into Lan Fan just to mess with Ling because that was such a dirty move and Ling looked totally crushed for a second

Gluttony having a literal doorway to a void in his chest is nightmare fuel, and seeing Ed wake up in that sea of blood actually makes the skin crawl

It felt so weird seeing Selim read that essay about how great his father is while the real Bradley is literally a monster. I kept thinking about the contrast between that nice dinner and those horrible rivers of blood in the forest where everyone was fighting for their lives and I just felt bad for the family not knowing the truth.

Ling holds his own so well against Envy and seeing him sense all those souls screaming inside the homunculus was a heavy moment

Marcoh looking so broken in that cell really got to me because he finally figured out the whole country is just a giant circle for a stone and Envy was just standing there enjoying the look on the doctors face and it makes the scale of what they are planning feel so much more terrifying than before and I am worried about his village

Roy giving Ed a gun felt like such a grim shift in the story because it shows how desperate things are getting for the brothers now

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the brutal revelations and confrontations in 'Girl on the Battlefield,' this episode plunges deeper into the Homunculi conspiracy and the rot within Amestris's military structure. It marks a critical escalation point roughly a third of the way through the series, where the protagonists transition from uncovering threats to being trapped by them. 'Inside the Belly' directly sets the stage for 'Doorway of Darkness,' pushing the Elrics and their allies toward even darker territory as the full scope of the conspiracy begins to take shape.
