Fruits Basket 2nd Season
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After spending roughly a year living with the Souma family, Tooru Honda has been helping them carry the weight of a curse that turns them into zodiac animals. The first season was warm and gentle, but this second season is where things start to crack open. The Soumas' family dynamics get messier, the curse feels heavier, and Tooru's quiet compassion gets tested in ways that actually hurt to watch. This 25-episode TV series digs into characters you thought you already understood and peels back layers you didn't expect. Kyou's anger starts making a different kind of sense. Yuki's composure starts looking less like grace and more like survival. And the head of the family, Akito, casts a longer shadow over everything. TMS Entertainment keeps the animation gorgeous throughout, and the soundtrack knows exactly when to twist the knife. The romance is there, but it's tangled up in trauma and family obligation in a way that feels earned rather than forced. If you liked Kamisama Kiss or Ouran High School Host Club for the supernatural romance angle, this takes that foundation and builds something genuinely painful on top of it. Fans of The Ancient Magus' Bride will recognize the same patience with emotional storytelling. Don't skip this thinking it's just a cute shoujo, but the drama here hits harder than most seinen series even attempt.

AKITO IS PURE EVIL! he's really evil! because Akito really shows his monster side to Kyo. and what's even more sad is that Kyo doesn't feel worthy of being loved by Tohru. it really sucks
The focus on Machi in this ep showed she's opening up a bit. Since Yuki decided to change himself for the better that has allowed him to start influencing the people around him was beautifully portrayed. Interested to see how they'll end this season on the next episode.
The best ep so far, very hilarious! The entire play segment was a blast to watch from beginning to end. The episode itself had a lot of great moments, from Kyo freaking out over watching Shisho and Hanajima get along, brilliantly well-written and great execution. Peak episode!
Ep 22 have an intensed atmosphere because of the amazing voice acting, facial expression, music, and the general use of the lore of the series. This is such a unique slice of life with Yuki and Kyo's confrontation can be repaired and that last scene was magically executed.
This was excruciating, heartbreaking episode to watch. Seeing how Yuki was able to pull himself out of the darkness that surrounded him in his childhood. His true feelings for Tohru and Kyo's were finally laid out. The direction was well-executed and the music suits the drama.
This episode tells us pretty much all we need to know about Kakeru so far. His impulsiveness and tendency to lash out comes from a self-preservation instinct to escape his strict family expectations. He brings breath of fresh air to the tensed Yuki and helps him so much to grow.
This was a warm and healing episode particularly for Rin. The ability that this show has to balance between making you laugh and cry within the next scene is an absolute masterclass. Tohru was really incredible of how other people can lean to her and knows how to read the room.
Was a cruel, heartbreaking episode focused on Rin. Her backstory were dark and sad, and that scene where Tohru hugged her was very heartfelt. Kind of reminded of Rin by Kuronuma Sawako on that scene where she was talking to Shigure. Was pretty convinced on what's in store for Rin
This entire episodes scenery was beautiful. When focusing on the characters, it looked like they were drawn on top of real life pictures. The subtle character development and soft character interactions were pretty great. The dynamic between Kyo and Uotani were hilarious, too.
It was an emotional, heartbreaking episode. The animation where Tohru collapsed on Momiji's room was like a glitch. But the ep itself was implying to each character's different conflicts they're struggling. The episode really shows how many underlying emotional issues Tohru has.
It was a fully wholesome episode! Seeing Shigure and Ayame interacting with Shiraki brings realistic, natural expressions. That grand entrance of Ayame was so remarkably a life-saver for Yuki. It was heartfelt towards the ending and at the post-credit scene, was hilarious!
This episode focused mainly on the Haru-Rin backstory. The new OP "HOME" was perfect for the cozy and gentle music of it together with crisp animation. Everything from nicer, more interesting, compositing, everything just plodding along. ED was amazing and the tune was catchy too
The emotional arc in this episode was perfect. It was a chaotic back-to-school ep featuring the student council. Highlighted on Yuki-Kakeru dynamics and clearing all the misunderstandings between them. Yuki's insecurites showed with the episode being slow-burned and tensed.
Felt like a filler which focused mainly on Shiraki and with her connection with Shigure and Hattori. Love how this shows Shigure basically lives for drama, and definitely has a knack for scheming, yet also seems to genuinely care for a friend. A skippable episode.
It was interesting episode and able to see Kagura's perspective and learn more about her past with Kyo. This version of the show just keeps getting amazing. The execution on every moment in the series is always at the top of its game, and can't be more grateful for it.
Another emotionally, draining episode! The confrontation was so heavy and intense. Really surprising on how Yuki sees Kyo, having doubts upon himself, and being envied on other zodiac traits. Animation and the character-drIven stories were flowing through the right pacing.
This ep was so dark, intense, and emorionally draining. So many happened in this one that became a rollercoaster ride of emotions. From warm, lighthearted talk to that conversation with Akito was pure evil! Kudos for Kyo's VA, he made a great job from being high to low in tone.
It was an intense episode. The scenes were Kyo and Tohru were alone were heartfluttering ones and their chemistry was high. The "core" art style has basically remained the exact same like the previous ones. The dialogues were heavy, expecially on Akito's.
What an intense episode! The conversations with Akito was tensed and felt draining. But, the one-on-one talk of Tohru and Kyo was heartwarming and cozy. The ending scene was perfect to end this tensional episode. Unexpected visuals at the end, perfect emotional drop.
This episode was heartwarming. Amazing character development of Kyo was able to tell that someone was off with Tohru so quickly. He was getting a softer and comfortable side where Tohru can easily open to him. A wholesome episode with the bunch with great dialogues and animation.
