The main character's situation gets you right away and you feel for her immediately., but as the episode goes on you can kind of tell where the story is heading. Still, it's cozy and easy to watch, good comfort anime if you know what you're signing up for.

Immediately made me love Tohru. Honestly, at first I was a bit shocked to find out she was living in a tent, but it was funny that she was still so relaxed. Then when the Sohma family's secret was revealed and they turned into animals, it was also funny.

Not every day do we find a story that starts with a bang! Fruits Basket elementalise Zodiac tales with character relations. Tohru, losing a place to stay, finally finds a home at the Soma residence nearby. The bizarre calamity forms around the events to come, and it’s interesting

When I started watching this. I really felt a slight sadness . Her backstory is kind of tragic and sad too. Based on what I saw, I think the whole series will be about zodiacs. Also the animations fits the genre and theme of this. Really suits well, hoping to know more!

A really strong and emotional opening. Tohru’s situation is tragic, yet presented with warmth and optimism. The Sohma curse reveal is simple but memorable. I instantly felt attached to Tohru’s kindness and resilience.

Still processing the story, especially the Souma family. So far the animation’s good, even if the character designs aren’t my fave. There’s some fun comedy too—when Honda’s tent secret gets exposed and Shigure laughs, I can’t 😂 And at the end, all the boys turn into animals!

This reminds me heavily of Ouran High School Host Club. If you've watched both, you'd probably understand the similarities. Uo and Hana are really pretty cool besties. And Tooru's mum seemed pretty cool too. The funny moments are pretty decent, too.

EPISODE CONTEXT

As episode one of twenty-five, this is pure foundation — every character introduction and tonal choice here pays dividends across the full season. The premiere establishes Tohru's circumstances and her initial connection to the Sohma family, setting into motion the central relationships and mysteries that will define the series. Everything that follows builds directly on the emotional groundwork and unanswered questions planted here.
